I went for a walk yesterday and took the knives out. I can to realize how much I really like the size and feel of the RC-6, I wouldn't go any bigger. It just feels right. Combining it with the RC-3 they make the perfect pair, maybe even an IZULA or HEST would be better for small jobs. On the other hand if I could only have one it maybe the RC-4 because if falls in the middle.

It was an easy walk. I wanted to see if I could try and pull off the survival contest out here, but the water isn't any good and there is no food sources around.

Enjoy!

flowing water over a rockbed,,,,I would think you could boil it unless there is some chemical contaminate we don't know about......Drew

mudbugs under rocks ,minnows/Fish, small game has to be around the great looking water source.....plenty of trees & Grass, game is abound just unseen

great pictures .... water looks good,no food source in the water .....

I'm worried there may be runoff from the wineries that could have some chemicals in it. If I don't have something to filter the water then I don't want to risk getting sick. If I had no other choice then I would try and drink it, but I'm not going to potentially get really ill for a contest. No large fish in the water, just some the size of my pinky.

if small fish are there ,larger ones maybe up or down stream in a larger area ... i 'd boil it /fliter & m1 tablet it w/o worries...

those finger sized fish are what you should be after. they are easy to sein with a piece of shirt or if you can find a plastic bottle build a minnow trap...

I think your over thinking the 3day2night, from thoughs pics, "as long as there is no chemical plant spilling run off into the river just out of frame.... that water looks fine. and if there is water there is life, and if theres life there is food. A good amount of wild plants are consumable.

you'll find a place....those pics are really nice.. reminds me of a place we used to take the kids to play in the water!

Why is anyone worried about food for 3 days?????

pinky size is good eating. Make a filter, see my thread, in it i make a bottle filter...."get really ill for a contest"....try looking at it differently, its not a contest..it is a chance for growth, it is an exercise. if shtf your not going to be able to be so picky so its time now to prepare yourself for less options. not telling you to drink run off. I'm just not wanting you to miss out on doing something that may have the same benefit on your life that it had on mine.:D:thumbup:

not worried but answering a question about his concern there is no water or food and in the pictures he posted ,water is abundant and if food was an issue for this person with looking at his picture of the landscape food is there if needed... :D

I was because i have other goals that require me to continue to grow which means i needed food.
although you could survive for weeks without food..(depending of course)

There is only one way to find out right? The only reason I fear getting sick is I can't take the time off from work.

Im sure there is some test strips you could purchase offline to determine toxin's.....t.g. if your so conserned.

If the SHTF in this country there will be very few people living in the woods as wilderness survivalists. As romantic as that may seem it's just not feasible for long-term survival. Wilderness survival, to me, means being able to live while you are escaping to some place else, living in the woods if you are lost (until rescued), or making do in the wilds should you become injured and no one to help. On the other hand, long-term survival may mean putting roots down which may include a self-sufficient lifestyle of growing your own groceries, killing your own animals that you raise (cow, chickens, pigs, goats, etc), preserving your own food, living without too many luxuries such as running water, electricity, etc. While it's nice to be skilled in bushcraft, that's not going to be what supports you and your family in a serious downturn in this country.

You know, I was thinking that as well. You might get really hungry, but it definitely wouldn't kill you at all. Besides, if you could get some of those pinky size fish, if you were really hungry, I bet they would taste good.

Having spent several days at a stretch without food, it's just not an issue. Hunger pains go away and you really don't lose strength in just 3 days. About the only thing that would worry me is if someone had a condition that requires them to maintain a certain amount of food every day, such as diabetes.
