Great vid, great product, in every way it is better than the 203.

Only 2 things I would change...

Provide a better device to retain the lid on the base and some diamond covers

Otherwise a GREAT product, the vid was a bit cheesy

Sal next time, just do the vid yourself...

It would be much better!Great otherwise!

No offense to the other two, but it made it a bit shopping channel esque.

Cheers Sal!

I am not having any problems with the case and the video is a great training device as presented. I really save time sharpening knives with this equipment.

You take me to seriously! It is a great vid, but Sal is the star, and I wanted to see more of Sal. NOT 'my dad is a woodworker so will it' (paraphrasing) etc etc etc! I am trying to be funny

but it is not my strong point

I love the vid, but I wanted more of Sal, thats all! He was the star!

It would be great if Spyderco did a more advanced vid showing ways to tweak Spyderco products and performance 'proof'. Oh and include a look around the factory and who's who! That kind of vid would be GREAT!!!

(that is what I would like! With a Baby Military and the diamond covers...)

Please don't think I am being an ass hole here, just my twisted humour!

I, too, upgraded to the 204 last week. Yes, it's very much superior to the 203, and the video really is a good aid. It makes a totally different impression than still photos, and you can see little nuances in sharpening as well.

I ordered a 204 a couple days ago. I just couldn't hold back anymore. I figure that my Military deserves the best!!!

I just got one yesterday. Almost blew out my wrist from so much sharpening. Gotta pace myself.

I know what you mean shmackey, my wrist hurts too, and before anyone adds comment, yes it is from using the sharpener on everything I can find and not for any other reason

Got mine this morning along with a Native Lightweight which I love already. Time to start saving for the next one, not sure what to go for yet. I am considering a Cricket as I would like something small to add to the collection.

General,

I cut up a bicycle innertube to make strong rubber bands to hold the lid more securely (and to hold Speedsleeves). I was mainly afraid someone (other than myself) would pick up the case by the lid and drop the kit on the floor. No problem on carpet, but bad news on concrete.

I really liked the video, but found the other people in it a little irritating. Like you I would have preferred just Sal doing the demo without the Q&A part. I just kept telling myself that the video is designed for all ELUs not just knife knuts.

Paul

Cheers! I will get a couple of those tough rubber bands to cover the case lid, just in case...

BTW, ELU's? Pardon?

Sounds like I'm going to have to get mine too. My wife just dug up a bunch of very dull knifes that need a lot of work..

The E-store prices are all over the place. Does anyone know where I can get the best price on a 204?

Hi General. Thanx for the support and he kind words.

Charlie, Buzzbait, Ian, Bladewalker. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

We're still working on the diamonds, honest. We finally have someone to make the steel triangles to be diamond coated. Still having trouble finding diamonds that "stay on" at a reasonable price.

Sal,

I have an extra bottle of Superglue that you can have, if that'll speed-up the process.

I've heard so much about this "204". Does anyone have the capability to post a picture of the device?
A price would also be nice. I'm sure there's a Spyderco catalog somewhere that has all this info in it, however I don't have one.

Thanks,
Will

Will.223, go to the Spyderco website and look in the Factory Store for the Sharpmaker.

Guyon,
Thanks for the picture. That looks pretty good to me! Sometimes I sit and stare at my serrated blades and wonder, "How am I ever going to sharpen these"? The Sharpmaker looks like the answer to that question.

Will

Ordered mine Sunday night, hope to see it by next weekend! Can't wait to see that tape..
Are these things heavier than they look? I got nailed for $7.29 shipping cost.. The same e-store charges $4.95 to ship a large folder..

Will.223,
I believe that Heimerdinger's Cutlery there in Loo-uh-vull carries the Sharpmaker. I haven't been there in a while though. If you have not been there before, you should go.

Paul

Rich,
If you are referring to their website, it is not all inclusive. They have much more stuff in the store usually.
