I normally do this trail on evenings instead of hitting the gym, but this is the first time I went all the way to the top. According to the posted map, it was 10 miles round trip. Going up was steep, but there are excellent views at the top.

This range is much bigger than I thought. Just mountains as far as I could see. Wouldn't mind getting lost for a couple days back here.

Brought this little guy by Mike Adams (madams on here) A great little hiking blade with a really stout sheath. I just slipped it in my back pocket.

Whew, I'm tired! But it was fun.

Cool pics and a nice blade to take with you. A hike like that beats a stairmaster for sure.

Only bummer was it was overcast today, couldn't see very far. Made it pretty hot and humid too, but I really enjoy hiking this area.

It's in Simi Valley, just north of Los Angeles. This is what all the local mountains around me look like. I really like all the rock formations.

I'm jealous of your area though Ray, Visalia is beautiful! I always enjoy stopping there when I head up to Sequoia.

"what is that plant? looks very cool"

I'm not sure, I thought it looked cool too. I think it is some type of thistle though. Some serious spines on that thing.

I went out for a couple of hours today also...forgot the camera! I had a good one as well. I brought a small pile of knives and tested in some cutting tests...I also practiced starting fires..it was a good day for it, as everything was pretty much soaked from some recent rain. Had alot of Ticks on me, and had to constantly check for them!! that kinda sucked.
Great pics T, and a cool little knife. Gene

Man I hate ticks! Always plucking them off me when the trails are overgrown or when I go bushwhacking.

I like those foot hills - everything is way to flat around my parts! Looks to me like a perfect EDC knife you have there.

tknife,

Beautiful pictures, I new it was Simi at first look, I lived
in that area for many years. The Iverson ranch is near
by, When Joe Iverson was alive he and I hiked all over
the ranch.

great pics T... looks like a gorgeous area...

i really like that mike adams knife...:D i am definately going to be picking one of those up...

Ten miles with a climb is a pretty good trek. Beautiful country up there. I lived in Encinitas (North County San Diego) for seven years and used to hike the Cuyamacas on weekends. Also enjoyed Anza-Borrego and Joshua Tree. Thanks for the pics.

Sweet knife.... Like that area you were hiking. Thought that was smog and was wondering how your lungs were after that hike.

Luckily, no smog. But when the weather heats up, the smog seems to get worse.

Man I need to do this trail more before I get out backpacking this year. My legs and hips are killing me! Guess I haven't been doing enough steep hills lately.
