A friend of mine, bought a few weeks ago a SH-e and had not tested it yet. So this was a good oppertunity take a few of my blades with us.

Here a few pics for you...

This bad boy was running away when he saw the INFI..

My SHSH was the only one who had some chips in the edge..

That's a beefy SH-E! Smooth scales to boot.

Those three blades...the drool factor is off the charts!

:D :D

Man I love to see INFI being used. Great pics. And watch out because that "bad boy" might return with his friends. ;)

Did you mod the scales on the SH-E or did they come from the shop that way? Sweet!

Nice!

How does it compare to your SFNO's --- gonna replace your "all-arounder" favorite?

Nice pics Jur:cool:

We must team up in the near future, as the Dutch Busse Clan, to do some more testing. My uchogfsh badly needs some exercise.....I'll bring my camera too to take some shots :D

No, the previous owner modded the scales. I've never held the normal scales, but the smooth scales feel awesome.

For me the SFNO is still number one. It feels so much better in my hands.

Erik, yes I agree. We have to pick a date and test some INFI. I can imagine that your uchogfsh needs to beaten.

And for the rest, thnx for the kind words:thumbup:

you need to give that SHSH a total resharpening to get rid of the old weakened edge. I have old blades that I resharpened with fresh edges and they did awesome.

Good to see you were back in the woods with the SFNO!!

Yes I agree. Was already thinking of that. :D

the edge chipped cutting through wood? is that normal? I thought INFI was the mother of all steels and the edge angle was rather obtuse on Busse? not meaning to stir anything but I haven't handled a Busse and the edge durability is one of the reasons I'm thinking of one.

I know on my native forged parangs and goloks, edge chipping happens all the time as we grind the edges real thin for use on brush and softwoods.

Any edge, can, and will chip if the profile is thin enough. Even INFI has limits.

I think this is an important key here. Factory edges are often reprofiled by owners. And more than not it is to thin out the blade to make it cut better. You just have to find that happy place where your blade cuts/chops well and is not too thin.

JurT,

Great pics! Thanks!

Spyken,

All steels chip, dent, or tear. What makes INFI fun is that it takes a lot to get that type of thing to occur and it resharpens pretty quickly. Take a high-carbide stainless steel and you'll have an edge that can chip easily and be a pain to resharpen.

From the Busse web page

Some facts and info about INFI.

Hardness
Although hardened INFI knives are 58-60 Rc we have yet been able to chip an edge. The edge can be dented or misaligned but its high level of malleability at such high hardness has never been duplicated by any other steel that we are aware of or have tested.

are those chips or rolls in the photo???

That - SH-E did it come with green kydex sheath? I wanted to buy it - but I couldn't make up my mind for too long...
Great pics! Thanks for sharinh JurT!
