Went Through My 14 Y/O Son's Desk......What I Found Was Very Disturbing

This is too good! LMAO

Its worse when you find your father has a similar bad habit. At Christmas he came in from Tenn for a visit. He was watching me put the final touches on a knife from my Grandad. He reached into his pocket (the same pocket that always carried an old 110) and pulled something out and asked me to sharpen it. Then he handed me the worst POS I have ever seen. It was a cheap Spyderco ripoff. He said he got it free with a box of nails. I said sure, I will take care of that for you. Then promply gave it a clean three pointer into the trash. After he got done cussing I handed him the 605 I had just finished. He kept saying that it was too nice to use as he dug that POS out of the trash.

Geeshh parents these days!

As a professional counselor and instructor, I can say that you've gotta confront your son, albeit in a nurturing manner. Sit down with him over a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and hash it out. Your mutual love will guide. Afterward, take him out and let him drive your car. That was always fun...

And remember, as my grandfather used to say, "better to have a soiled knife than soiled undershorts, ya little bastid," but that's another post altogether.

:)

Professor.

>"My nephew got a junky POS knife last year <snip> I found it two weeks later at camp, while emptying the chemical toilet!!! He actually dropped the knife into the shitter, and couldn't figure out where it went!!!!"

Where else should a POS go, right? :D

I just hope the Buck slipjoint is a little bigger than that first POS. Hopefully he won't swallow this one too!:D

ROFLOL!!! I never thought about that scenario. Maybe I should have gotten him that Marbles TrailMaker he was asking for.

Maby a good spanking is in order. I think a weekly knife drawer inspection is in order.:barf: :D :p

perhaps letting him observe the MASTER at work..keeping
the collection in tip top shape..would be a lesson he might appreciate..
after all..who does he look up to more than dad....!

You know what they say.............The apple doesnt fall far from the tree..........some bad habits in your past????????? :) :)

I like the knife inspection idea. Issue him some Tuf-Cloth, Simichrome, a rag, and a sharpmaker. Every Friday at 0800, he should present arms.

And have a talk with your other son to make sure he knows what his brother is doing is wrong and not "cool" -- just say "No" to Knife Abuse, Misuse, and Neglect.

I know how you feel. You plan for your children and try and raise them right. I began stocking hope chests with knives and hones when my boys were still small looking forward to the day when they would strike out on their own and build their own arsenals. One fell in with the wrong PC crowd and decided that he was opposed to violent ways. I'm pretty sure he lost or sold the Blackjack knife that I bought him. I found the tell-tale dull and neglected knives kicking around in the younger son's room.

But they do grow up and find their feet. After a couple years of living on his own the older one decided that hunting his own meat would fit his budget just great. I took them both off to the mandatory hunter safety course and now Tom hunts on his own. He borrowed my A2-bladed Trailguide and returned it sharp and clean. Steve went off to college this year and was greatly concerned on bringing a good hone with him to educate his dorm buddies. So take heart. The teen years are always the hardest.

I don't know what to say Greg: It is a heart break to see kids go wrong. He chose to treat them that way, it is his choice. To help set him straight I will try to find the stuff I had in my dresser drawer when I was 14 and send it to you. It may take a little doing to send explosives in the mail, maybe a private carrier.

My suggestion is to buy him a Busse, it is nuclear tough and you would never have to worry about his abusing it !!

ROTFLMAO!!!1

You guys are killing me....:D

I had an hour long argument with the nurse that helped deliver my daughter...she refused to give me the scissors I used to cut the cord...

Put it right into my BDU pocket - and she made me give it to her - some lame excuse about counting tools and forgetting stuff inside patients...

my baby is 6 months old now - think it's safe to present her with her first custom folder?

you may laugh but I'm considering giving my son a knife too. My wife happens to think that he ouhgt to learn how to walk first but I argued that if we wait too long, a blade will never become second nature to him.

The BATF rejected my application for a nice six-shooter I was wanting today and I was seriouisly thinking about jumping off high bridge without a bungie cord. I happened to bump into your heart-wrenching experience with your son and realized I am not alone in this world and some folks have real problems. Thank you for taking the time to write about yours. I'm having second-thoughts about jumping off a high bridge and maybe I'll just opt for a two-story outhouse instead.

All he best to ya, lad. Quill3547
