So, I had to go to get the spring repaired on this here knife

And they were generous enough to replace the sheath on this knife

I decided to mosey on over to the store, right next to the warranty center. I wanted to see if they had anything from their 2015 line. When I saw it in the display case, I had to look at it.

It fit in my hand perfectly. The handle is actually long enough to get a grip with both hands, if you wanted. The spine is a full 1/4" thick, and I love me a heavy knife. 9.5" long blade, 24OZ. When I asked, they said they didn't have any, and I was quite disappointed. An employee quipped in they have some blems at 1/2 price. I brought it home for $80.

The steel is 5160. I have not used it before. Anyone have experience with it

That's great. Glad to see some hands getting dirty at work or play. I'm glad to know the froe works. DM

That is a really good useful tool, right there! If I didn't have my small axe I'd be looking at it. Congratulations!

It bit me!
As soon as I saw this thread I was going to warn you about the dangers of the Froe.
It is a great tool, but if you are not careful you can easily cut yourself or lose a finger.
My buddy borrowed mine a couple weeks back and took off the tip of his thumb.

Ouch! That must suck. I have cut myself many times, and this certainly isn't the worst.

(Warning-slightly graphic)
Just a little off the top.

I asked my buddy where the rest of his thumb went, ended up finding it still stuck to the Froe in the piece of wood he was working on :)

OUCH, My thumb hurts just looking at it. :thumbdn: Be careful or you may only be able to count to 20 instead of 21:) :) :)

That piece of thumb on the blade is a little disturbing! At least it looks like a clean cut. I like the looks of that new Buck.

OOOUCH is right !!!!!! I hate to admit, but I have done that very thing at least a couple times. I guess when one plays (I mean USES) with knives as much as some of us, it's gonna happen. Sure glad it wasn't any more than the tip. As painful as it may have been the healing process could be even more so. The nerve endings in finger tips don't like being severed. In my case it has always been a left hand injury (pretty normal) which makes it a bit easier healing. I've done it to my index finger and every time I touched anything for a month it felt like some shoved a needle directly into the tip. I still think every bug out bag needs one of these bad boys.

Good to know the froe holds its edge after apparently quite a bit of use.

Really curious though how much work it took to wear the coating off the blade.

Not much for me. Just a few hours of wood work, and I have similar results.
