the misses, our little one and i spent the weekend in the city(S.F. and oakland).. we went over to my wife's cousins for lunch, on sat.. she lives in Alameda, which is next to Oakland...
we spent the night at my buddy's house in oakland too, since we were heading to SF this morning to pick up our older son, who spent the weekend there... the city(s) are only a little over an hour away from us..
while we were in Alameda, i asked my wife's cousin how far we were from a store called the Japan woodworker.. www.japanwoodworker.com it turned out that were only 2.5 blocks away... after we ate we all walked over... man is this place cool... my father in law and I were in 7th heaven...
we didn't want to leave... they carry tons of tradtional style woodworking tools, with a strong emphasis on japanese tools... they had lots of cool knives, even some scandi's too.. they also had the whole selection of GB axes...
i have been meaning to check this place out for years... i have a friend who is a woodworker, he also makes bow's... he buys a lot of his hand tools from this place....
anyhow, just wanted to share my excitement.... we are broke these days, so the only thing i ended up buying was a Mora crook/bent knife, for making spoons and bowls...
it's crazy sharp... i can't wait to get back there..
i'm looking forward to trying my hand at making some spoons and bowls now...
