Went to the race track with my brother this past summer. . . .

Dan and I are muscle car aficionados. Love 1968 Chevelles. Best lines of any muscle car ever made in my opinion. We owned 2 of them when we were in our teens.

Both had 327 small block V-8s with 400 turbo trans and 12 bolt rear ends. One had a 370 rear gear and the other ran a 456 gear that redlined in seconds!

We went to the Milan, Michigan drag strip this past summer to watch the 1/4 mile runs.

Lots of horsepower ripping up the track. We had not been there in the past 30 years. They now have 1/8 mile dashes which I thought were awesome!

Although he loves the 1/4 mile runs, my brother said fast sprints, coincidentally, like the big 1/8 mile dashes are not his favorite.

When asked about their overwhelming popularity, he did agree that nearly every time, big dashes bolster attendance and help to keep the sport alive.

It does seem like the 1/8 mile runs are practically over before they start.

Any other muscle car nuts out there?

Let's drink!!!

:D

SO what your saying is there's going to be a small limited number of Anorexic B8's, a regular run of mostly 1/4" B8's with some fatty's thrown in for a while for good measure.

Exactly what I got out of it. ;)

I do love me some muscle cars too. 55 Nomads and 66 Chevy II Novas for me.

Part of the clue may be the word "within" like maybe wiTHIN

I posted this earlier in the other clue thread...
what do you think re the anorexic theory

I love muscle cars. First car was a '67 Cougar with a 289. I bought another '67 Cougar a few years ago, it was a 4 speed with a 351W transplant. Man that thing was cherry, I should have never sold it, but I'm happy I had it while I did.

Not my second one, but almost exactly like it

I had a cherry '67 Camaro RS with a 327. I stupidly sold it.......Damn I miss that car!

I used to go to the drag strip in Oswego, Illinois back in the 60's....Dan probably knows of it. I loved to watch all the muscle cars, and got to see the jet-powered Volkswagon called "the Lightning Bug" and another jet-powered Camaro, both breaking the 200MPH mark. Arnie "the Farmer" Beswick and the "Flying Dutchman" were two of my favorites!
My sister had a 67' Chevelle with a 283 engine; that thing just seemed to pick up and fly!:D

Yes.
Yes!
And Hell YES!!! :D ---

As for the muscle car, my first car was a '67 Camaro, 327, with the 2 speed powerglide.
And I agree I miss it too.

The first car I bought was a 1977 Trans Am. 6.6liter with the T tops and the whole 9 yards. Straight out of the smoking in the bandit movie. Except mine had 60 inch slicks.

I think we all need to get together and have our own Busse Cannonball Run! Now that would be epic!

If you make a 1/8" basic 8 I am in :)

I love 'em. I love modern muscle, too. I just ordered a 2015 Mustang GT a couple of weeks ago (Dark Grey with black leather and black wheels, performance package). Will be trading in my 2012 Mustang GT, which I bought when I traded in my 2002 Ford Lightning (Supercharged F150).

I have a 1990 Mustang GT that my brother and I will start restoring this summer. We both loved fox body Mustangs when we were in high school, and it will be a good chance to spend some time together.

Once that is done, and this new Mustang is paid for, I plan to pick up a late 60's Mustang... ideally a 69 Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet like my mother had. Did I mention that both of my parents had similar 69 Mach 1's back in the day, and my mom's was faster? Dad's "Red Baron" only had a 351c. She loves reminding him of that. :D

Some day I'd like to play around with some Mopar muscle, but I really am a Mustang guy first.

Ahhhh muscle cars love them all !!! But I've always been a Pontiac guy true to heart. Currently restoring my 1970 Formula Firebird its a RA III 400 4spd 12 bolt 3.73 with ram air it's blue on blue. I also have its brother 1970 Trans Am that I'll do when the formula is done. The Formula I've had since I was 16 years old, my Dad made me park it in the barn after he drove it lol. He thought it was way to fast for me, comparing it to my the 1978 TA 400 4spd. Guess I owe him one for me still having it to this day.
I could talk cars twice as much as knives lol, so I'll cut this short lol.

I use to go watch the drag races at US30 Dragway southeast of Gary, IN when I was a teenager back in the mid/late 50s. Chevys ruled the stock street classes back then. I remember seeing Big Daddy Don Gartlis with one of his early dragsters. "Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end....". Left Indiana in 1960, the dragstrip is long gone, I never could really afford a muscle car until I was too old to really enjoy it. Now that kids are grown and gone and have families of their own, I spend my money (what little I have) on "toys" like guns and knives.;)

Forgot to mention, I have always loved Mustangs since they first came out, but was never able to afford one. Had to be more "practical" with a family.

Not really muscle cars anymore, but I have had this 2002 Z06 since new (Dec 2001) and I love to drag race it!

This was a few years ago - My best stock run on stock tires - only mods on the car were computer tune, headers and cold air intake. No engine mods or power adders.

I have since put in a Quaiffe third member and an RPM transmission upgrade.

I drove a 1968 Torino in 81 through 91 or so, I had pulled the 390 medium riser and had it rebuilt. It was making around 400 horsepower at the flywheel with the rebuild. I sold it when it became a chore to work on it all the time and also when gasoline started getting spendy - it took premium and lots of it.

This is a picture of my 86 Mustang GT and my Torino in the background.

Chevelle's are my favorite as well!!

I would love a 1970 Chevelle with a LS4 package(454, 450hp, 4 speed, 4:11's), blue with white strips!!!

Maybe someday, but until then this is my Chevelle, 1965, 355 with a low profile Weiland blower!!

I had a New 62' Pontiac with factory Tri-Power and 5 speed on the floor. Now have a
2014 Mustang GT 5.0 with six speed Manual. Still like to have fun!!
