Went to town modding my Swamp Warden.... lots-o-pics

BryFry,
That looks awesome. How hard was the Micarta to work with? I need to make some handles and need to mill a slot in them. Do you think it can be done with a file or something? I was looking at the material yesterday over the net which is not expensive but wondered if it could be done by hand or would it would require a milling machine? Where did you purchase the Micarta and what color is that?

I got this micarta from USA knife maker supply:

I ended up not liking the color much after I sanded on it, so I used leather dye and clear coat to get the color and look that you see in the pics above.

It wasn't too hard to work with. Sands pretty well. I used a beltsander, sandpaper, and a dremel sanding drum to shape mine. ....If you go to do it yourself, just make sure you use a good face mask/respirator because the dust is pretty bad for you!

Wow.... wow.

For a sheath, i think you should use newspaper and scotch tape. Or maybe just an old banana peel. Whatever you have laying around, y'know, 'cause it's not like you put any effort into making that knife your own! ;) :p

Wow. i like it.

haha... Maybe I'll just do like I used to do as a kid and make a sheath out of cardboard and duck tape!

Though newspaper and banana peel sounds pretty sweet too! :)

Ha my 511 rides in cardboard and electrical tape, getting a sheath soon. Just thought it was funny, gotta do what ya gotta do!

That rocks my friend.

Thanks guys! If time allows I'd love to try more modding.

Right now I plan to try making my first leather sheath.... just ordered some leather and basic tools, will give it a go here soon! :)
