We're all knife addicts here but really...

Hmmmm.

1.) no special box yet, I want a pelican case though. I do associate my knives with dub-step, when I'm flipping my balisong that's what I listen to.

2.) nope, my dad did give me an old survival knife (pretty impressive quality actually), and we call it "Mike" as a joke.

3.) I don't own multiples of any knife, except the Vic Classic.

Guess I'm not a real knife nut...:D

Well, I don't have multiples, technically. I just have quite a few of the same pattern of traditional knife, but they're by different makers.

None of your guidelines apply to me, but your guidelines are not fully comprehensive. I definitely have gone too far. Admitting to myself that I've gone too far is the first step toward correcting my madness. The second step would be to do something about it. I am currently working on doing something about it. Being on this forum today is essentially a relapse. The occasional relapse is to be expected , but not accepted. I will now go and occupy my time on something positive TBD.

how does that saying go again, I think it's "one EDC at a time" or something like that............

Giddyup

Nope.
They all get used.
They all get scratched.
Cut sandpaper? Why not.
Set it down on cement? Why not.
Drop it? Oops. Did it bend/crack/break? Nope. Dont care.
I like the looks of knives with character alot more than new ones.
Even if I got a Hinderer or something really expensive, it would still adventure with me.

And I dont own duplicates.
Except for my 110 and a Case Peanut.
One of my 110's is new, and the other is trashed.
I bought one Peanut and then won a giveaway for the other.

1. No
2. No
3. No

I don't feel that I have a problem. I just have more knives than I need. But not quite as many as I want.

1.) Worship your knives?

Worship? No. Respect? Yes.

Like keep them in a shrine, a special box made of exotic wood?

I keep most of them in a shoe box.

Does the opening of this box invoke sacred hymns?

Sometimes the mutterings of various curses and obscenities.

I am not exempt. I have a habit of buying two of everything. Not exact copies but along the lines of a stock Buck 110 and an Alaskan guide 110.

That's what I'm working toward in a few cases.

When does this become a problem?

Does your collection interfere with your ability to work? Tend to your family? Manage your finances?

1. No. I keep mine in a cardboard shipping box and a denim pouch made by my grandma for the traditionals (which also fits in the box)

2. No. I wrote a poem once for a giveaway, but that's it. I like them best when I use them.

3. No. I have under 20 total. I sell or trade if I don't or won't use a knife.

Diversity is the spice of life.

I want to use those last three sentences as a quote in my sig line.

As with alcohol or any addictive behavior, it becomes a problem when you continue doing it despite the adverse consequences.

I can stop whenever I want to.

Lol,yeah noodle we should all be on the cover of a mental heath magazine. LMAO,no problems here either.:D:D:D

...has it gone too far for some of us? Do you:

1.) Worship your knives? Like keep them in a shrine, a special box made of exotic wood? Does the opening of this box invoke sacred hymns?

2.) Play with them like dolls? "Hey Ms. Opinel, would you like come play with Mr. Griptillian?" type stuff. Taken to extremes have you written a screenplay for a stop-motion animated film for your knives?

3.) Have 73 copies of the same model? Just 'cause you can?

I am not exempt. I have a habit of buying two of everything. Not exact copies but along the lines of a stock Buck 110 and an Alaskan guide 110.

When does this become a problem?

No shrine, All my folders are in a drawer separated with padded cases or sleeves I made from duct tape.

Does sharpening a knife that isn't dull count as playing with them? If it does, than yes. I play with them.

I have 3 dragonfly's, And a pink and orange one on my amazon wishlists. lol

I'm saving a link to this pic for the next time someone says I have too many knives. lol

It is an addiction but fairly under control I think. I was about to drop $1000 on a custom which was a fair price but I stopped myself and said that I can get on the order list another time and right now I need an AR or 1911 instead. Ok so I started with a gun addiction and switch off between the two but honestly it is not the addiction for me that is the problem but not having enough money for many of the customs I want or guns. Being on here and going to gunshows does not help.

I don't worship or play with them, but I have caught myself fondling or stroking one of my Busse's before... Getting into them is why my answer to #3 is a resounding 'No'. No way can I afford duplicates of them. :p

I have a problem now. Thanks to his picture I'm done selling folders to fund new purchases. I deserve a massive folder pile & its up to me to make it happen.

I do buy duplicates if I really like the model. They go out of production & I worry about losing my user in that model & not being able to replace it.

This picture has the making of a contest IMO. Awesome picture. It's like looking at a knife monsters scat.

I am sure I am a full blown ''knifeaholic''.however my knives bring me more than just a little joy.i am suffering with a brain tumor and lymphoma as well as tumors on my spine.i am most days in overwhelming pain.but my knives keep me positive.i find comfort in them.i have my dream knife[becker BK9] coming Tuesday,i cant wait.i love bladeforums and read my BLADE magazine each night before I hit the hay.i throw knives when ever my body will allow and also just started working with a karambit to help pass more idle time.
knives are my friends,my therapy, and a true blessing to me.they are far more than a possession or a simple tool.my top wish on my bucket list is to become a part of the ''beckerheads'' its something I am working on.so I hope there is a cure for cancer, but I never wanna stop being a knifeaholic.
