Our family is devastated. Moby, the chewer of TV remotes and cell phones, died suddenly last evening of what appears to be some type of heart failure.
No warning signs whatsoever. She was her normal, exuberant self all day while I was working at home. After we came home from dinner around 8pm, she was given her biscuit and water and went to lie down on her comforter in the family room, head underneath one of the chairs, eyes following us, as always, as we went in and out of the kitchen. My wife suddenly heard a bump and looked over to see Moby lying on her side, letting out a few yelps and convulsing slightly. I ran over to see what the problem was and by the time I was on the phone to our vet, Moby had died. It took less than three minutes.
Moby was the youngest of three greys that adopted us. Biggles was 8 when he died of cancer of the liver in 2002; Curtsy was also 8 when she died in 2003 of massive kidney failure. Both dogs were under the vets care for over a month before they died so we knew when the end was coming. Mobys death last night was so sudden and so unexpected; it will take even longer before the shock wears off. We are devastated.
Sorry for the long post but I needed to tell someone who I know will understand. Go and hug your pet; we never know how long theyll be with us.
R.I.P. sweet Moby.
