Our family is devastated. Moby, the chewer of TV remotes and cell phones, died suddenly last evening of what appears to be some type of heart failure.

No warning signs whatsoever. She was her normal, exuberant self all day while I was working at home. After we came home from dinner around 8pm, she was given her biscuit and water and went to lie down on her comforter in the family room, head underneath one of the chairs, eyes following us, as always, as we went in and out of the kitchen. My wife suddenly heard a bump and looked over to see Moby lying on her side, letting out a few yelps and convulsing slightly. I ran over to see what the problem was and by the time I was on the phone to our vet, Moby had died. It took less than three minutes.

Moby was the youngest of three greys that adopted us. Biggles was 8 when he died of cancer of the liver in 2002; Curtsy was also 8 when she died in 2003 of massive kidney failure. Both dogs were under the vet’s care for over a month before they died so we knew when the end was coming. Moby’s death last night was so sudden and so unexpected; it will take even longer before the shock wears off. We are devastated.

Sorry for the long post but I needed to tell someone who I know will understand. Go and hug your pet; we never know how long they’ll be with us.

R.I.P. sweet Moby.

Sorry to hear about your dog, I've had dogs since I was 4 so 42 years is a long time to get attached to and grieve lots of pets, it's never easy but I always remember with great fondness the good times and If your lucky you have lots of memories and maybe even a lot of pics to get ya through it.

Peace,
T. Erdelyi

I'm sorry for your loss. Our petfriends are some of our closest. Prayers for you and yours.

Sorry to hear about your pups, it's always hard to lose family.

My uncles neighbor rescues greyhounds from tracks the world over. If you rescued them, you gave them more than their brothers and sisters could have hoped for. Beautiful dogs.

Holger,

I am very sorry to hear of this. I have two rescue dogs that own me. In time may the realization come that you were as blessed having them in your lives and they were having you in theirs.

Thoughts go out to you and your family.

Last year I spent about nine months pestering my county to create an off leash area and we got it in January of this year. The park has become a huge success and is very popular . (2 1/5 acres of woods in an existing county park) I have gotten to meet a few rescued greyhouds and their owners.

They are indeed majestic with great personalities. Not to mention their ability to run like no animal I have been close to. Greyhound adopters are very special folks. The ones I know really were dedicated especially during the first few months when they get a new one. It takes a lot of patience to convert a race dog to a member of the family. Most of them have only known cages, exercise and racing.

:( You have my regards.. The only sad thing about our animal friends is most of the time we outlive them.

I just know Moby is runnin around Dog Heaven chasing rabbits and having a blast.

and catching them too! Sorry for your loss Holger. About the only comfort you can take is that Moby didn't suffer for any length of time.
My condolences on your loss.

Very sorry for your loss. Losing an animal hurts. Remember all the good times you had and that you gave her as much as she gave you.

Sorry to hear of this. My condolences on the loss of your friend. It's never easy when a loved one passes whether it be man or beast.

We are devastated today, but we're coping. The shock is in how quickly this took place.

I told my wife that I would only share this news with friends.

And I did. Thank you.

My sympathies on your loss. I have had 12 four footed friends in my lifetime who have passed on and remember everyone of them fondly-each one a mutt with a distinctively marvelous personality. My family has 5 dogs now- from a Hurricane Katrina Chiuaua to a friendly, gangly Rhodesian Ridgeback. God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is hard enough when one must put their pet to sleep, but the sudden and unexpected death seems even harder to deal with. My Shadow and Elizabeth are at Rainbow Bridge and were probably among the first to greet Moby.

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.......”

I will definitely give my 3 munchkins extra hugs when I get home. We never know when our loved ones will be taken from us.

Take good care.

Judy

I'm sorry for your loss. As a dog lover and owner myself I know how much it hurts.
