Were would you rate your self on traditional knives?

I did this for fun, the majority post behind their forum name. So with that, I thought it might be cool to rank our selves.
So when posting - you may seen some post in this poll - that they know quite a lot.
And than you know maybe they could help you with questions. Because there is just a TON of stuff to know.

I was looking back on Woodrow F Calls poll and will repost some here.....

What the right sized traditional slippie?

Date posted - 3-6-2014
4 - pages long
64 - post
164 - poll hits

So out of 164 votes - this is what the percentages & numbers looked like...

4'' - closed and up ----- 7 ----- 4.27%

4' - closed ----- 21 -----12.80%

3 3/4'' - closed ------37 -----22.56%

3 1/2'' - closed ------69 -----42.07%

3 1/4'' - closed ------22 ----- 13.41%

3'' - closed ------- 3 -------1.83%

1/4'' - closed ------- 1 ------- 0.61%

I voted some what.
I know what I like, but compared to many of the members here I don't know much.

I am with Stu, but probably just come into the some-what level....as you say Al, there is a TON of stuff to learn, and I look forward to seeing who is brave enough to say I know almost everything :-)

My knowledge base were gooder since joyning the furom.:D

Which reminds me, Al Dodge , are you a USNA 1981 graduate?

"Some-What" for me... I've learned ALOT from this forum in the last year and a half since I discovered BF, but I'm not anywhere near what some here know.

I sure do love these old classics. They're a true passion and I love to learn all I can and discuss them here on the forum with my brothers n sisters who share this subject.

also voted some what.
know more than some, much less than others
but hardly an expert :p

No - not me, has to be someone else.

Over the past nine years here and few good books picked up, my knowledge has grown quite a bit.
But by far am I even close to knowing it all. I voted "uh-quite a bit"

So if any one want's to ask me something, that's cool, as long as I know the answer.......:D

I have been collecting and studying cutlery for over 40 years. I find every time I get into some research on a particular subject how little I really know. One of my areas of interest is Sheffield made cutlery, prior to say WWI. Geoffrey Tweedale, certainly one of the preeminent experts in this field, recently added 200+/- pages to a 500 page book. I know virtually nothing. I am a beginner.

I had to vote "somewhat". I think I know quite a bit about the knives I actually own and collect, but there's so much out there...

I'm pretty good at using the forum search feature. :D

WOW, if Brad claims that then I'm goin home, consider me like Schultz on Hogan's Hero's..."I know Nuthing!!!

I'm probably somewhere between somewhat and uh-quite a bit. I figure if I've been visiting this sub-forum for 10 years I must have learned something. But I ain't taking no test!
On second thought if I'd spent all my knife money over the last 20 years differently I could have paid for a BA in Traditional Knives. ;)

No doubt, if that were true for Brad, I will be the one in the corner with my head down hoping I don't get called on to answer, otherwise my ignorance will shine like the sun.

Al,
Where is my knowledge level on traditional KNIVES ?

I saw Your thread shortly after You started it, but I thought I would not be the first to jump into the deep end.
One of the nicest things about Blade Forums is that Our members share their enthusiasm and knowledge.
We have a vast amount of knowledge spread out in all the areas in the traditional knife world.

I am familiar with a few makers past and present and different styles of knives and a little bit as to how they are made.
I do know what appeals to me and what knife I prefer to use for a certain task.
I would answer Your Question with a "some what".

I am thankful that we do have quite a few bright and knowledgeable people among us.
Whether or not that they would give themselves a high mark, we know who they are. :)
