I might've been in the basement if we had one. Our house is pretty small. Only one room has no exterior walls in it, the master bath, and that's the best we can do if we need a safe place. If I had seen a single shingle blow off a nearby roof, or any other evidence of imminent danger besides just the sound of the wind, we could've been closed in that bathroom in less than 15 seconds or so from where I was standing in either the front or the back when I was taking those pics. It was bad, but there wasn't a single tree blown down right here in this neighborhood. There was lots of damage within a half mile or so, but none here.

Thanks for the concern, but I'm neither particularly brave or stupid. I would've sought better shelter if I needed to.

Nice pics - good to hear you made it through without any major damage.
Being from Kansas, a lot of those skies are pretty familiar looking!
 
Wow great post with great pictures. I would have probably changed into another pair of pants by the time you took those pictures. Glad you're ok and you got to use that BK9. Its a beast. Thoughts and prayers to those affected.
 
Holy crap, probable the only time I'll ever say this but after seeing those pictures, I'm glad i live in California. Those look pretty scary even from here, glad to see and here you and your family are ok.

HA! Well, we left Commiefornia 20 years ago to move here, and I feel exactly the same way about that Gulag! I'll never go back. Dixie ain't perfect, but it's a damn sight better'n there for my tastes. Just remember, they all gotta go to sleep sometime. When you get the chance, escape. LOL
