West of Seattle, outdoor kindling hatchet saved (and done)

I hung it today. Its not perfect but it should work just fine.

Purple heart maple was used as the wedge.

It feels good, even choked up.

And into the BLO bath it goes. 2 parts thinner to 1 part BLO for a couple days.

The haft will get another sanding with 120 grit and coat tomorrow. Then finer grits and more concentrated BLO for the following days.

That looks great!!
You're inspiring me to try making my own 20" handle...

It's finally all oiled up and done. I really like the 3D ring at the bend in the grip.

It finally went back home and my sister assures me it will no longer live outside.

All in all I am happy with how my second ever haft turned out. Now I need a new project.

NICE!

You just need a new axe head.
Sunday! :D

Wow. I bow to you sir.

That is also my favorite sized axe. I don't take down many trees around here, I love a 2lb head on an 18-19" handle.
