Hi Everyone,

I'm about ready to order West System's G/Flex Epoxy, the 105/207 variety. I'm interested in purchasing a complete set-up, with pumps, syringes, and scale....( Yah. I'm a geek like that). Should I purchase one of their thickening agents? Are there any coloring/dying products that work well with West Sytem's? I live in Hershey, Pa...but will most likely be purchasing via internet. Where do you folks purchase your W S products from.

Thanks Bobby:)

wow the count strikes again, well played sir.. :D

I'll agree you can probably pick it up at a local marine shop they seem to have same prices as the net...

I just get it at a local west bay boating supply shop. The prices are about the same as online and its 2 miles from my house. If I was working in bigger volume I may try to find a better source but it works pretty good for me.

Hey Guys,

Does the G Flex come in size larger than the 4 oz bottles... That all I can seem to find on the net?

I'd prefer to get a larger, perhaps gallon size... Such as 105/207

West system is a premium priced product and seems to be stable in cost most everywhere. Check the date on any potential bargains.

I suggest looking for laminating epoxy resins with similar properties to west for the best savings.

Then again, 6 gallons is my minimum order these days. If anyone finds water clear aeromarine epoxy for less than 55 cents an ounce delivered please let me know.

If you have a local West Marine store, that is a really good place to go and "coon finger" a pretty good range of West System products.

G-flex is not the same as 105/207. You want the g-flex. West Marine (not related to West System) has the best inventory and has other Gougeon Bros. products like pigments for colors, fillers, etc. Prices are pretty much the same wherever you buy.

Good point. 105 is standard resin with no filler added and 207 is the clear finishing, slow cure hardener. I do believe that G-Flex is probably going to have some kind of filler already added.

G-flex is, I think, a completely different resin. It will allow a small amount of flex - hence the name - after cure. This means when the blade and scales expand or contract due to temperature changes, the epoxy bond will not break. That is what makes it ideal for knives. You can add fillers to change some of the properties.

Thanks Tim... I've been able to find it in the 16 oz bottles.. But then it jumps to the 2 gal qty's... Wish I could find it in the gallon size?

Also, can't seem to find out if you can get a pump system designed for g flex?

Perhaps pump system is just for their traditional product line?

You might be able to use 2 of the same size pumps - g-flex is a 1:1 mix. Call Gougeon Bros. and ask them. Think their phone is (866) 937-8797. If not, Google them in Wisconsin.

If you can't use 2 of the same size pump, go to your local vetinary supply store. Get 2 large syringes and fill one with part A and one with part B. Insert the plungers just enough so the epoxy won't run out and turn the syringes so the needle end is pointing up. Let the air bubble rise to the top and carefully push in the plunger until the epoxy just starts to come out. Now you can mix an almost perfect 1:1 ratio.

Thanks Tim... That's a great idea.

I just picked up the 4 oz g flex bottles. Gonna see how they work before I buy bulkier sizes...
