Today I received a Western Union money order for payment of a knife. The problem is, the sender didn't fill in his address and he didn't sign it. I suppose the right way to resolve it is to send it back and have him fill it in correctly. However, a friend advised to just fill in my address and signature (as if I were the purchaser) since the bank probably doesn't care anyhow. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah, is it typical to have the word "VOID" in the background picture??? The same friend said it was normal for the Western Union money orders.

Speaking as a former banker...trust me, the bank doesn't give a hoot who the money is from, as long as it's made out to the right person. Fill it in and deposit it.

As for the "void", that is a security feature...if you make a copy or scan of the MO, the void becomes VERY noticable...just to keep folks from printing their own.

Go ahead and sign it. It is not like a check and is no big deal. You can even make up a name and use that. They don't care if it's signed

Thanks for the help, guys! I went ahead and deposited it yesterday. I called westernunion and asked about the "VOID" and yes, it is a security feature.

Bank could careless, My grandfather put two different amounts in the payment section he got confused when writting it. I fixed this infront of the teller, she had no problem. I figured as much about the void on it.
