Wet Hike - North Shore, Oahu

It's been raining heavily here in Hawai'i for the past couple of weeks. I arrived on Oahu on Christmas Eve, and two nights ago we experienced an island wide power outage that lasted for over 12 hours. I was glad to have my trusty maglite 2AA LED with me.

The following are a few pics from a short day hike I did with my lady on Kaunala Trail, up in the mountains behind her house in Pupukea, North Shore. Sorry, no knife pics since I only had carry-on luggage for this trip, and I didn't want to deal with mailing it here for a short vacation. I felt very naked without one (and my normal psk) though, especially since it was just a "day hike" in wet slippery conditions. I need to bring a fixed blade and basic psk to leave at home on Oahu for use during future vacations back here. My machetes I left at home are strangely MIA...

And to throw this in: a "survival" game my Lady's mom got me for Christmas! Haven't played it yet (or read the book for that matter), but plan to soon...maybe today since it's uber rainy again...

Hope to get out to the beach soon, if this rain gives us a break.:grumpy: We do need the water, but it'd be nice to get some sun and play on my sorely missed Hawaiian shores.... More to come later! Happy New Year everyone!

Nice place to spend Christmas

Enjoyed the pics... thanks for sharing

Excellent pictures. Looks nice and lush. It won't be for another 4 mo before I see green again!

I spent 7 days last summer at the turtle bay resort on the North Shore of Oahu - it is a beautiful place that is for sure.

I've always wanted to go to Hawaii. I always say if I ever get to go there the last thing they will see is some wild man running from the airport to the jungle. Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing.

Great pics 'Ol Bud  Very nice area you got to hike in, I would love to hit those trails at least once :)

Nice photos man!
Wish I was there, your what plus ~20*C? Im sub -20*C every day, im very envious!:D

A wet paradise is still a paradise. While hopping back to Korea from mid tour leave (many many years ago) where I was stationed near the DMZ I over heard two soldiers talking about having to return to the rock , I assumed they were referring to the Republic of Korea (ROK) but the were referring to Hawaii I would have traded places with them in a heartbeat.
Nice photos.

Thanks for sharing beautiful pictures of great place.
I'll visit Hawaii sometime. I love rainy forest of tropical island.
