Wet machinery question

Hi Randy, good to hear you are able to salvage something. Seems like if BC ain’t burning, it’s flood lately. Wishing all the best moving forward. Or you could move back to high ground in Alberta. 😂 we are only getting record cold lately.
I think we managed to have record cold here last week (which is nothing compared to REAL cold in Alberta), record amount of rainfall in November and record high temperatures in the summer. It's an adventure.

One other question....my stihl chainsaw and stihl hedge trimmer spent the better part of 2 weeks underwater too. Poured the water/gas and chain oil out power washed them and dried them both out....should I drain the fuel bowls in the carbs to make sure there is no water there, and pull the spark plugs to make sure there is no water in the cylinders? Should start? As long as they aren't seized the are pretty simple machines...fuel and a spark and they tend to run. Right?

Chainsaws are awesome. Tear them down as far as you dare. Clean, dry and lube appropriately. Completely empty, and clean the carb, pull and clean the plug, if it's old enough to have points, pull them, clean the contacts and space them appropriately.

If you decide to get real adventurous and pull the head and carb completely, make sure you replace the gaskets. Don't be a cheap @$$ and skimp out on the 5 bucks and ruin your 500$ saw.

Have fun!!

Clean the carbs and air filter , take of spark plug and pull that handle with rope as you do to start chainsaw several times , that will push out water which is 100 % inside .

As much of a stressor and pain this has been, it has been a bit of fun to see what can be resurrected after being underwater for two weeks. Every machine that starts up and works is a bonus and makes me smile.

Randy - so good to hear you are making progress, but also sorry to hear of those things lost 😔. You take care up there, ok?
