Does anyone have any experience with Swedish-made Wetterlings axes. They have some designs VERY similar to some of the smaller Gransfors. Prices are slightly lower, too. Any help would be appreciated!

Funny this should come up. I just got one as a gift and I was wondering about it myself. It is forged steel and hickory. No nonsense and pretty sharp. You can see hammer marks on the head. It is real pretty in a functional, hand made kind of way. Not a machined piece at all. I have yet to give it a workout, but it looks real solid. I got a woodsman's model, 20" handle and about 2 lbs. I think it will be great for camping and such. Swings comfortable one or two handed. Great for a big hatchet or a small felling axe. I don't know about edge holding ability or anything yet, but my initial impression is very positive.

Interesting timing, I'm in the market for a hatchet. Anyone have a source (preferably internet) for these axes?

My wife got mine for me from Garett Wade as a birthday present. Their description of it is dead on, at least as far as I have seen so far. It is easy to choke up on for a hatchet feel, but even swinging it one handed from the end is comfortable. Two handed is a little crowded but not bad by any means. The leather head cover is a nice touch. I will be taking mine camping soon so I should be able to put it through the paces.

Rkenny,
These look like fine handcrafted axes. I'd love to see a field review from your camping trip (preferably before I get my expense check ;) )
