First pictures of a knife I've made that I've posted.
Comments and suggestions from you seasoned professionals would be appreciated.

Purchased the blade from TKS, cryogenically treated 440C
8 1/2" overall length with a 4 1/2" hollow ground blade
Handle is Cherry with Sipo and Lime inlay, bolster is water buffalo horn
Brass pins in the bolster and Lane Reed mosaic pins in the handle.

For a first try, I think it looks pretty good from the pics. I can see a couple things that I would change.

1. The edges of the handle look really flat and square at least from the pics. You may want to consider rounding off the edges quite a bit more for more comfort in use.

2. I wouldn't make the front edge of the bolsters flat and square. Some kind of radius and or bevel might look a little more custom.

3. I would turn the mosaic pins so that they are aligned the same way, known as 'clocking' the pins. Just a small detail but some find it important.

4. with more practice, you may want to dovetail your bolsters.

On positve notes, your fit and finish look pretty good. I like the choice of contrasting materials. Not too sure about the spacer in the handle as far as material (just my preference) but again the fit on it looks really good. Nice work for your first. Keep it up.

By no means a professional but my only suggestion would be to round the handle a bit more. Other than that it looks good.

Very good job for your first knife. Very good fit and finish. John made some very good points which I would second. My eye is drawn to the bolster pins. They appear to be unsymmetrical. If you started with a predrilled hardened blade then not much you can do about that. I might put four pins in that bolster with all pins equal distance from the edge of the bolster but that is just me. Keep up the good work.

CRAP.. you cant say whack a noob and then post a pic like that..we want to have fun too.

very nice, I like the handle.
