Where I find the wharncliffe has an advantage over the sheepfoot blade type is in a multiblade knife where the long radius of the wharncliffe spine makes it more comfortable in the hand compared to a sheepsfoot. Secondarily the wharncliffe has an advantage in piercing applications due to the slender tip. This comes with the somewhat greater opportunity for the tip to break because it is so slender and thin. It's not really been a secret that I am a big fan of wharncliffe blades; I have 3 Case sway back knives, 4 Case wharncliffe mini copperheads, 2 single blade wharncliffe trappers and 5 two-blade wharncliffe trappers, a wharncliffe copperlock and a Case desk knife.
Yep, I like wharncliffes. I'll probably add to the list as time goes on.
