I find wharncliffe blades get dull along the tip faster than knives with a substantial belly. When you make a cut, a wharncliffe edge will always present the very tip of the edge to the material first. If the knife has a belly, first contact is made by the curved section of the edge and you use a sweeping motion to distribute the wear and tear along more length of the edge.
