Wharncliffe blades

As many pocket knives as I own (which is really not that many), I almost always carry a freebee Sak utility knife with a wharncliffe blade.

Ferrule:
1 : a ring or cap usually of metal put around a slender shaft (as a cane or a tool handle) to strengthen it or prevent splitting
2 : a usually metal sleeve used especially for joining or binding one part to another (as pipe sections or the bristles and handle of a brush)

Feral:
1: of, relating to, or suggestive of a wild beast <feral teeth> <feral instincts>
2 a: not domesticated or cultivated : wild b: having escaped from domestication and become wild <feral cats>.

A hog that did not start it's life wild, my spell checker sucks.

Thanks for the heads up hlee

Double amen Culpepper. Never had pea fowl. Near best gravy I ever had was back in high school. These two old ladies that lived on the river used to cook racoons we trapped. Not as good as pork chop gravy, but good stuff!

You use your T Bose avatar knife for skinning critters? Use any other wharncliffe blades?

thawk,

Yes, to the Tony and so many more. Got a 26lb. boar in the oven as we speak with sweet taters and brown sugar. Done all the ugly with a Tony Bose shadow wharney 2 blade trapper and a Kerry Hampton Backpocket. I have always said “ If the big man takes me today, I will have lived a great life”.

Amen to that, ever try peafowl without white gravy?

And don't forget the mushrooms. Just picked these black morels tonight just before dark and lookie there, the Wharcliffe blade comes thru again.

(I KNOW "THRU" IS SPELLED "THROUGH" DAMMIT!:D)

Very cool shrooms Kerry, and a real fine photo. Do you guys soak your morels in saltwater up there to spook out the bugaboos?

Yessir...the extra protein is undesirable, even though you can't really see them..you know they are there if you don't soak em good and proper.

I average 100 squirrels, 10 raccoons, 5 white tails, 5 rabbits, 3 nutria and 2 ferrule hogs a year. That’s over a 10 year period. You won’t be disappointed.

All of Gods creatures have a place in this world……right next to the mash potatoes.

Culpeppj, I have a couple of good dogs that might help you get your squirrel and coon numbers up next year, and I probably don't live too far from you. If you have furry critters my mutts will chase them up a tree for you.

Zip7,

All thats left this year is coons and nutria. The nutria are closer to you state around Pearl river basin. Coons can only be hunted friday nights in the Wildlife Management Reserves (WMR). Sounds interesting.

Wharncliffes are excellent slicers, they look unusual and sharpen up with no problems. What more d'ye need?

Feral/ferrule is a near freudian slip on this site. Even more so if that feral hog was cut up with an opinel with a locking ferrule.
