The Wharncliffe is ground from .2 inch thick ATS-34 stainless steel and hand sanded down to 600 grit to producing a nice satin finish. Heat treatment was done by wrapping the blade in stainless foil and soaking at 1950 degrees F for 30 min. then cooling with forced air fans (ATS-34 is an air quench steel). The blade when into the freezer for 24 hours then into a dry ice for another 3 days. Afterwards it was double tempered at 400 degrees for 2 hours.
The blade is a great cutter comfortable in reverse grip making it pretty wicked. It is a great looking piece with its outstanding Curly Koa wood handle. The sheath is stitched and tooled heavy 8/9 ounce brown leather with a belt loop set up for right hand carry.

Thanks tyr_shadowblade and for the name of the blade shape too, love it and the Viking roots. I'm working on a carbon version that is almost 17 inches long overall with a little more hook in the blade just got the profile done but excited to see how it turns out.

Hello raiderfan1890 and thanks. I'm also still hammering out the rustics, love the character of the primitive forged look. Thanks, Kelley
