Wharncliffe, Micarta?

I recently found a 12ot with the tip snapped off. I made it look almost like a wharncliffe. Looks like the194 would make a decent looking wharny though. Post a pic if you still have it. Here's mine. Thanks for the input.

I just reread your post. Doubt you have it 30 years later.
That 194OT is long gone: worn out or given away, most likely. Just start the curvature for the tip at the forward end of the nail nick, sweep it down to the edge. Lots of trappers and similar wind up this way when the tip is gone.

Your 12OT reminds me much of my favorite barlow carving mod. If you can hold the little 12OT in your hand, it should serve as a good way to see if the wharncliffe will work out for what you do with a knife.

The 12ot is a bit small but I carry it as a secondary blade. I like it but now I got the itch for a real wharncliffe.

Man, those green 47s are sweet! I had never paid much interest in them, but those pics have got me drooling.

GasMan1 take a look at the Mason Knives thread. On the last page, Paul posted a Swayback Wharncliffe with pen secondary knife. It has wood covers, but perhaps he would make one in Micarta for you.

Thanks Bob, that is absolutely stunning. I would almost be ashamed to ask him to change anything. It's just that nice. :). I didn't see a price. I don't need to get my hopes up to much but Man, that's sweet.
