Hello I am new to the forum, and I am looking for a medium sized trapper pattern knife with wharncliffe and clip blades. I know Case used to make one, but I can't find any makers who currently have this model. Does anyone know of any makers that do?

Thanks

First off, Welcome to the forum!. :)

I am not for sure about any company who produces this pattern today with a Wharncliffe blade.. If it doesn't have to be a Trapper pattern, perhaps you can explain your intended utilization of the knife??.. If you do this then I think the members here would be much more obliged to assist you with they're vast knowledge and experience..

Thanks. I'm looking for an EDC knife and I think those two blades would be ideal for anything I would want to do. I suppose a stockman would do the job, but I would prefer the longer equal length blades of a trapper.

Trappers are cool, but I recon this is my favorite with the wonderful Wharncliffe blade..

There's a Case Copperhead with a Wharncliff blade, too. Just another option. Unfortunately, I can't dig up a picture right now.

sunnyd: what is the steel on your seahorse whittler ?
paraglock: if you find a copperhead, or copperlock, or mini with a wharncliffe blade in CV could you post a link ? not even sure if they exist, but i'm looking.
thanks, rolando

right now on ebay there are several wharncliffe trappers, a cv wharnie copperhead, and a cv wharnie copperlock - all Case

I have the cv Copperlock, and it's very nice. But I see them on there a lot - search for wharncliffe and wharncliff and you can almost alwasy find some

eBay may be your best bet at this point. The Copperhead model is 6249W (aka CA6985). Add "-CV" or "-SS" for the type of steel. It's not currently listed on the W.R. Case site. They did have a CV in red bone in '06. Mine's been customized and is no longer red, bone, or a two-bladed knife. ;)

The Wharny Copperlock is a 31549WL (aka CA040) -CV. Only available in yellow Delrin. Also no longer listed.

There's a Mini Copperhead with a Wharncliff blade (CA257), and it is still listed as available in 2007. However, it's only available in Tru-Sharp Stainless, if that's an issue. I've got one of these and love it. It's got all the charm of a Peanut with a Wharncliff blade (my favorite) to boot.

rprocter, that gorgeous Case Seahorse Whittler is only available in Tru-Sharp. Some mumbo-jumbo about having to retool in order to produce CV that was thick enough, or some such. The tangs on those things are massive. (I've got the same knife.)

thanks, i'm an ebay virgin, but i'll check there for a warncliffe in CV.
as for the case seahorse whittler in ss; i'm happy to hear you like it as i am expecting one i ordered from sooner any day --- in amber jigged bone. i also ordered a gunboat canoe in 6.5394 bone stag. i have the hobo in this and it is my current favorite (prettier than my inlaid sebenza at 6x the price).

I just won a Wharncliffe Copperlock in CV on Ebay. My first auction ever - 25.00 plus shipping. :D

They do currently make a red bone wharncliffe copperhead, with a pen second blade, in CV. Case knife outlet has some.

I have the same knife in blue bone, but stainless. Very good, very useful knife. I carry it often. Months on end, sometimes.

As mentioned above, Case used to make this one...

...a 3 7/8" Copperhead with a wharncliff and a large pen blade. I know where there are a couple. If you are interested, you can PM me.

Who made the first trapper with a Wharncliffe blade:confused: :D
