I bought a CS Tuff Lite and am in love with the Wharncliffe blade....I'll be honest, never like the look, but the function is fantastic for how I use a knife. So, who makes Wharncliffes? I know of Spyderco and Case......who else?

Lots of companies. Benchmade has. Kershaw makes them. Pretty much every traditional company makes them. They are all over.

Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade...the usual suspects. They all have at least a couple in their lineup.

Agreed. My only Wharncliffe is a Spydie Kiwi which I consider a junk drawer knife but I love how it performs.

In the traditional arena, Great Eastern Cutlery equips a number of their patterns with a Wharncliffe or modified wharncliffe blade.
I have a SOG Access Card 2.0 with a modified wharncliffe/sheepsfoot blade. I use this one primarily for light duty desk type activities if I don't grab another knife first.

I too find the blade design very effective for everyday cutting chores. In the woods, the blade is okay for general duty, but not the best choice for field dressing chores when hunting. I would not choose this blade design for self defense, but then I really don't carry a knfie for that purpose.

Are sheepsfoot blades considered a sub-category of wharncliffe's or a totally separate? The benchmade griptilian and the CRK Insingo are good examples of mid and high end examples.

The Hogue EX-04 "Modified" Warncliff is one of the most impressive and functional blade designs I've ever used. It excels in every area that is important to me. Piecing, cullting/slicing and with the double recurve really grips the material being cut on both the push and pull cut with a nice big belly to get the most out of each motion.. Plus the double grind reduces the drag while cutting. It makes prolonged cutting a breeze.

Not a traditional Warncliff blade but worth having a serious look at. So far I've been nothing but very impressed with it.

Best of luck!

This blade bears no resemblance to a Wharncliffe.
Names can be a bit strange sometimes.

Names can be strange indeed, the Hoag looks like a modified of a modified sheeps foot.

Hinderer now offers a production/mid tech Wharnie...

I was lucky to pick mine up for $385 when I won the Hinderer lottery here on BFC last summer. (The CF one in the pics is mine...the other pic is of the lotto knives that went to other winners)
