What’s The Story with Your Beckers?

then the BK11

And it just keeps going.

I bought my 14 back in April or June 2011 because I wanted a durable fixed blade for and EDC knife. I'd carried a Buck folder for over 10 years but wanted something more and finally broke down to get something more. I liked it so much that after my research (yeah I'm calling it research) here, I bought my 2 in October 2011. Who knows what the future may hold, or how my collection may grow.

Here's how they sit now. Hopefully that bamboo will dry out soon because I'm planning to use it for scales for my 14.

Kept reading moose's posts about the bk2 so I bought one, than my buddy bought one. The 14 I bought because I loved my Izula but wanted a bigger blade. So its sort of moose's fault.
Its pretty hard to beat the value in these knives. Except for my 551 griptilian all my knives are either Becker or ESEE, both companies are run by great people.

You are closer to the truth than you may realize my friend.

Go back a few posts to where I referred to it as a "roach belly on steroids". I'm a member of our state historical society and 'my thing' is frontier warfare. I've actually done some reenactment stuff and one of my handmade warclubs is on display in a local museum.

As such, I tend to be a traditionalist more or less with my blades, and that's one of the factors which appealed to me regarding the Magnum Camp. It's like a modern, suped-up version of roach belly type trade knives from the 18th century.

The overall traditional design hybridized with modern materials makes the Magnum Camp a viciously powerful slicer, the best butchering and slaughtering knife I've ever used, and it really 'clicks' with me personally.

I have one of Jeff White's excellent repro's of an english trade knife, and it's evident to see it as the Magnum Camp's direct ancestor.

Which is why I still want to see Mr Becker make a shorter version of the Magnum Camp, with a blade of about 5"-6" long, which would perfectly be a modern Roach Belly, and I theorize possibly the best hunting knife on the market.

Whoa! No I havent seen or even heard of those!

I suggested the concept of a smaller Magnum Camp a few years back on here and haven't heard anything since. That looks fantastic!

Hell yeah man they are coming out in a little over a month (at shot show) Some good stuff right there!

I've got to have one!!! That will be my new EDC. YUM!

Mr Becker must be psychic, because that's pretty much exactly like I envisioned it.

Absolutely perfect!

I bought a BK-2 earlier this year based on comments on this forum and over at Bushcraft USA. Frankly, I was disappointed. The edge grind was bad and I couldn't reconcile myself to the heavy weight of the knife. I was down on Beckers. Then a few months later, while doing a comparison of combat knives for one of my blog posts I had the chance to pick up a BK-7 fairly cheap. I figured that if I didn't like it I could easily sell it at a profit. When I got the BK-7 in hand my immediate reaction was "wow, this is a great blade shape that is very well balanced!" I kept turning the knife over and over in my hands, trying different grips and working hard at finding something bad to say about it. I eventually did find something to gripe about - the sheath stinks. That said, I think the BK-7 is perhaps one of the best balanced combat blade available today.

Next I figured I'd try a skeleton knife. I ordered up the BK-14 and was enchanted. It is now a standard part of my outdoor kit. How much do I like it? Well, about 5 months ago I couldn't find my BK-14 and was so bummed at losing such a great knife I ordered a replacement after only about 30 minutes of searching. Yes of course I eventually found the missing knife - it was right where I'd left it under my fishing bag. That's OK, two BK-14s are just about enough. But then I had to find out why the BK-14 handle is so much better than the BK-11 handle. Yup, you guessed it - I had to order a BK-11. Guess what - the BK-11 handle is just fine, thanks. Ethan got it right the first time out the gate with that one.

Then I start reading all this chatter about this thing called a BK-10. Once I read all the posts and figured out what was going on with the Ka-Bar produced BK-10 I called the factory and ordered one up. I figured that it would at least make an interesting collector's piece. Once again, I was enchanted. Ka-Bar needs to forget about the 'tweeners' and just start making the BK-10 as regular production item.

Along the way I picked up a BK-9 (a bit blade heavy but still a useful chopper), a BK-13 and finally a Ritter/Becker RSK MK2 Perseverance. I love 'em all.

But I've still not warmed up the the BK-2...

Great story, I completely understand why you fell in love with the 14, I always have mine close by if not on me. Have you tried convexing the bk2? It really made a world of difference for me. Once I did it was a completely different animal.

Broke my woods knife on a 2 trip, needed to get it replaced. While I was at SMKW, I was waiting on some assistance, whilst waitin', I perused the display case and found the BKT stuff. Checked them out, fondled a few from the behind the glass, decided on the BK7. Bought 2 of them, and 2 more Kabar American Legends. Been into them ever since.

So far my only ownership has been the BK14, which I originally bought as a gift for my sister to use in her backpacking setup this Christmas, were pretty cheap so got myself one too. It's kinda become the PSK/EDC fixed blade option for me, I love the thing, hated the sheath, fixed that pretty easily with some nice kydex from a member here. I'll definitely be buying another Becker by years end either a 2 or 7, and a 'tweener' upon their release(love the looks of the 16). Price point I don't see these being beat by anything out there I've put my hands on, I've managed to handle a few that friends have had but it's one those deals,'hey give me my knife back'...can't say I blame them.

I stumbled upon BK&T when I was researching a Kabar I picked up at a local gun show. I was really excited about it, as I'd always wanted to own a Kabar fighting knife. I then found that they made these beautifully crafted hunks of steel called "Becker Knives", so I ran back to blade forums to find out what they were all about. Within a couple of weeks, I had a 14 and 10 in my possession, then upgraded my account here and had a Remora in my hands. Being more of an outdoorsman type, the Becker designs really clicked with me and I've been enjoying the heck out of the one's I have. The BK5 and it's tweener counterpart are going to be added to the collection before spring.

I've got 4 guys in my family that are getting BK11's for Christmas, now, too. You find something good, you might as well run with it. I've never gotten real excited about a line of knives like this, ever, but each blade feels great in the hand and has a real-life purpose for me.

Been using good quality folders for general use everyday. On the farm using a machette or bush blade for general wacking but wanted something handier to use on limbs and pesky little white pines from certain hardwood stands. BK-9 is on the way and look forward to trying it out this weekend. From what I have read here, I won't be disappointed. Now need to get a good sheath.

I dont think you will be disappointed, I love my 9 and have usedit for everything from cutting a loaf of bread to chopping down some small trees while clearing shooting lanes for my blind. It's a truly great knife. The sheath isn't great but hey thats easy to replace. Thanks for posting!

Ill chime in as a new Becker guy. I bought a bk9 a while back, after finding this site and seeing some of the pics and videos of what it can do. It replaced my small fiskars hatchet on my hunting pack. I am getting older and trying to trim down the load and the 9 is easier to carry and still will do what I need if I choose to stay overnight instead of walking back in the dark. I have a bk2 coming (Christmas present to me LOL) thinking it should be just the ticket for belt carry out in woods. I'm normally a Benchmade guy, Grips and a Rant I have carried and used for a while. In fact, that is how I found this site, looking for a different sheath for the Rant. At any rate, I just can't stand to beat on Rant and while I love Benchmades, I just think the bk2 will be more useful in more situations. I can see from pics that many of you use the heck out of your Beckers and for the price, it looks like you can't go wrong.

I just hope I am as impressed with my bk2 as I am with the bk9...which will lead to more Beckers and inventing uses and excuses to own more. In fact, thanks to this site, I saw the Ritter/Becker Mk2 and I just love that profile. I just don't need to spend any more money on Beckers for a bit. Maybe I will have to gift the bk2...it is Christmas, after all...

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season and thanks for all the good info here...even if it is a little hard on the wallet...LOL

I am new to the addiction. I picked up a 11 and instantly saw the need to make personalized scales. I now find myself wanting more, I am thinking a 2 then a 7. Then by that time the "Tweeners" will be available for purchase, and I will be broke. :)
Like so many other folks here I was in the market for a fixed blade knife that could be used for EDC, that was reasonably priced, made in America, and most of all well made. The Beckers fit my needs perfectly.
