What’s ESEE thinkin’ with this one?

ESEE has "Jumped the Shark"!

I've owned dozens and dozens of ESEE knives. Some were pretty good, some mediocre at best. But this thing...............OY VEY!

Come on Man!
IDK, for a friction folder, it looks well made and aesthetically pleasing. And it has ESEE etched on it. It's probably mostly for fanboys, though.

Its hard to get wrapped around the axle with this or the banana peel when I have a $500 frame lock in my pocket.

No I’m not going to run out and buy it but I would prefer it to man6 traditionals in its price class

I only wish I had a 500 dollar knife so I could remind people how I can’t be bothered to get excited about less expensive knives.

I wonder if this is just a way to answer all the folks who've been clamoring for a proper ESEE warren-teed folder from them. Like the Junglas (which I was one of the clamorers and love mine), they might have put one out just to shut people up.

they aren't above putting out designs they think are stupid, as we've seen.

How about this, this knife costs about the same as a GEC, which would you prefer?
GEC hands down, and I own quite a number, though I haven’t been buying as many since they started breaking the 140 dollar mark.

It’s so much more work to make a slip joint, particularly with multiple blades, that I can’t believe this friction folder is in the same ball park.

I have to assume that a folder is just so much easier to break, so they are adding the cost of replacements into the price.

It’s 170 already on a… uh… mountain store In Tennessee. I’m floored. A friction folder is just so relatively simple to make, particularly one with no lock.

The sad thing is they’ve been talking about the AGK in S35VN and the CR3.0 in S35VN for like 2 years, and both look fantastic. How’d those get put on hold on favor of this?!

Friction folders don’t have to be so simple.

Without getting into “my cousin batons Swiss Army knives”, I hope that’s not what they’re doing.

Agreed, but it has always been a sticking point with the production folder issue.

How to make a folder 100% in the US, up to their standards, extra hard use, and still be competitive and make a profit w/ the warranty they provide.

the youtube crowd loves to "stress test" everything, and there would immediately be a ton of knives showing back up for their no-questions-asked warranty as soon as they put them out.
Plenty of the fixed blade knives came back cut in half to be replaced (and got replaced).

I understand why we cant have nice things.

I figure it makes the ROI calculation kinda tough for them. They live and die by that warranty. That and Rowen magic is kinda the only thing that separates them from the pack.
