Still haven't seen any picture of this knife.
But honestly, if there are no markings whatsoever other than "D2" the probability
of it being some cheap non-name knife made in China or Pakistan is pretty high.

There a photo in post #14 that shows a Case Seahorse Whittler - BUT 1. it obviously has "other markings" 2. I'm pretty sure Case Seahorse Whittler has not been produced in D2

I don't see an image, just a link to a facebook page. I assume I'd have to be logged on to facebook to see it, so that isn't gonna happen.

Your description sounds like some sort of Wharncliffe Whittler, made by someone other than Case.

A picture would help...

That is a custom Gil Hibben called Jaws, designed by Paul Ehlers. Ehlers helped him design a few art/fantasy knives. It dates to the early 90's.
