What’s with AEB-L steel?

AEBL is a great steel for the everyday user. Can obtain decent hardness (as noted), stainless, fine grained so it can take a very thin edge (geometry) and easy to bring back to scary sharp. AEBL was developed for razor blades, so it makes sense. It is my favorite (non high Vanadium) steel to use.

As they say, Geometry cuts, Hardness and composition tell it for how long.

I agree with my friend here, David Mary and navman 100 percent. The only machete I've ever made was from AEB-L. I ran it at 60 RC (I've always dropped the H). It is still happily slashing its way through Floridian swamps.

Also, I’ve decided that AEB-L isn’t, “dense”. I, however, am dense, at least mentally. AEB-L is just a harder steel than I’ve experienced in the past. I like it!
