Recommendation? What’s your one and done Morakniv?

611 from E Jonnson and Frosts 612......

Wow! Who made the sheaths if I may ask?

I got a Frost's Mora several years back that looks like this:

I only have one Mora, so I guess I'm "one and done."

Mine is in laminated steel, and I would bet the edge steel pushes 65 HRC. Since I'm a bit afraid of chipping it, I pretty much exclusively use it for cutting the sternum in deer.

It's been through probably half a dozen deer so far, and only been touched up on some crock sticks so far...

My first Mora was an inexpensive sheath knife made of carbon steel. It felt like a $10 knife in my hand, and the sound of cheap plastic sheath rattling on my pant's buttons was not pleasant. The thick grind on the edge was fine for cutting frozen bait, but I really didn't enjoy the plastic parts. Plus, it had the flair of a $10 knife. I am 61 years old, and get no pleasure from using the cheapest , ugliest knife in the world, no matter how well it functions.

Of course we could all drive cheap cars because they do the same thing as a Mercedes, but nobody brags about their Yugo cars, so why would I brag about a Yugo knife?

Thanks for the rich discussion fellas. Really helps with navigating Mora’s lineup, lol. I kinda fancy the Robust now, but I have no real need for it.

Maybe we should do one and done threads for other brands too.

I have the Mora Clipper 840. Carbon steel, red guard and pommel, 4" blade. I'm guessing it may be an older version of what is now the Companion. It's part of my kitchen collection.

It would be hard for me to pick one. My first Mora, a red-handled 612, is a sentimental favorite. For a lot of reasons, I like the Kansbøl, but I know from direct comparison that the Jããkåripuukko is a better cutter. The Companion, of course, is everyman’s knife. There are several on my shelf and stashed in hopefully convenient locations around my house. The 510 allround is pretty cool, but I liked it better when it was red and cheaper than the 551. In the end, the question is absurd, because Moras are so cheap there is no reason not to have a dozen.

Based on the theory that one is none and two is one, I have two companions. One green, one orange, both stainless. Really like the sheaths. Green one is zip tied to rail in my trout boat, orange one is zip tied to a milk crate that is on the shelf in the truck topper. So, Companion.
