I am remodeling the jewelers work area in one of the stores. A dentist I know was moving out of his office ,and was going to sell me all his counters and cabinets in the sterilization unit and the X-ray lab. They are acid resistant Formica. The deal was fantastic, $1000 for everything. He was going to throw in some other storage cabinets, too. I ripped out the shop on Tuesday, rented a truck for Friday, and was ready to go tomorrow morning, when the call came. He had another dentist call him up and want to take over the office and buy all the cabinets and reception area fixtures. He didn't want the equipment or dental stations, just everything in the reception area ,offices and work rooms ( the sterilization room and the X-ray lab). My friend was very upset about backing out on the deal, but he was getting $17,000 for everything to be left in place. I told him I didn't blame him for taking the better deal.
Later today he called and told me I could have the free standing cabinets in the dental units. There are four of them with lights, power, drawers,a work surface, and top storage cabinets. Each unit is 52" wide and 30" deep. Then he said I could take one of the overhead track lamps. They are those dental spot lights that roll back and forth and have an articulated arm with that cool butterfly shaped spot light (which has adjustable light output, too). It will be perfect for illumination of engraving and diamond setting. Then he said I could take the equipment in the equipment room, since the new guy didn't want it. I opened the door and couldn't believe it. There was a monster industrial compressor with special air dryers, filtering, low voltage control circuits, and a 230V autotransformer for line isolation. This thing has a refrigerant air dryer system and some other whistles and bells I have no idea about. He also gave me the manuals for them. I would guess this cost $3000-5000 dollars, maybe more. It weighs about 400-500 pounds. Now that was pretty good, and then he said to take the two 1.5HP vacuum pump systems, too. They weigh 100 pounds each.
To top it all off, he threw in two fiber optic light units that attach to the hand pieces. I can hook it up to my flexshaft and when I step on the pedal, the light will come on and illuminate my burrs and the area they are cutting.
I can't wait to set all this up and start playing with it. I'll be pretty busy for the next three days doing the re-mod, but will try to post some photos next week.
