I built my grinder about a year ago and started grinding blades. This is one of my very firsts a year ago

And this one I made a year later as an Homage to Phill Hartsfield and his style. There have been many in between but the contrast puts a smile on my face

1084 3/16" deferentially heat treated
10" OAL
5.5" Blade with "Hartsfield Style" finish and glass bead blasted given a small convex apple seed edge.
3 strand cotton roped underwrap and Turkshead and green ito cord impregnated with system 3 epoxy that sit on a slightly narrowed tang and butts up against a small shoulder.

And yes I gave it a name :)..... "Ronin"

ShopTalk has been a great assest and thanks to all those who freely share what they know.

Holy moly that is indeed a big difference. Fantastic looking grinds on the newer one.

Here is my first knife ever made, October 2011:

I'm looking forward to what lies in store for next year :)

Man, all of those look pretty good to me. I had one of those threads up a while back and you can see my progression. Looking back, my first ones were awful, although I was awfully proud of them at the time.

File knife, not heat treated, and also, the tang and handles aren't the same size, so I filled the gaps in with jbweld or something.

Now I'm here, a year later:

I can't wait to see where I'll be in another year.

That last blade of your Don is sweet!

I am getting ready to make my wife a Santoku with pink G10 handle :). Making kitchen knives is a joy since the actually get use....and abused.

Crimson,

That is awesome:thumbup:
