What a knife fight really looks like

Having seen hundreds of these in person, let me reiterate-STAB THEM. I can guarantee that these guys were not playing, or trying not to hurt each other. For all you tough talking bad a##'s out there, it takes a bit of work to sit around and carve another human being like a piece of meat. Back to the lesson-the human body deals far better with slashes than it does with being deeply punctured in vital areas. It also goes back to knife "fighting" being a stupid idea. Start thinking about immediate, viscious, termination without "fighting" or dancing with knives.
 
Well it may not be a good combat strategy, but I think you'll have to concede that it's a fairly entertaining nickname!

Joking aside, it is true that a lot of sparring in martial arts academies is more like knife fencing or a knife version of touch football. Marc MacYoung said that his view of "knife fighting" changed a lot when he got a lesson from a retired military guy who took out a bunch of people with a knife. It was way different from what you see in many martial arts academies.
