Depends on what you bought and what you paid for it. I have wooden duck decoys, for example, that I bought for $2 that will now go for from $100 to $1200. I sold one on e-Bay a few years ago for $1200 just to see if I could get it. I did.

I have a lot of good stuff in various categories of collectibles that I got for practically nothing that are quite sought after now.

Disciplined buying of prime stuff will minimize loss.

And like Plumberdv said, it's pure profit to your kids no matter what happens.
