I had an uncle the master knife maker who recently passed on. His wife heard I was making knives so she called me and said I could have his shop…when I went over to pick it up here is what he had. 3 KMG grinders, a heat treating oven, gas forge, anvil, hand tools, files, band saw, 2 drill presses and 50lb little giant. So I am set for life…….
It is all good.

Did this really happen, of course not. But I am getting so jealous of all the guys that find great deals on stuff, anything I find is broken and they want twice what a new one would cost. So I made this up to make myself feel better….I had you all going for a little bit..

Oh my God! For a moment I was puking myself in jealousy! But now I see that we are merely in the same boat....

Yea man you had me going for sure. That right there is too good to be true. Sooner or later something nice comes along, it just might not be exactly what you are looking/hoping for. Still works out though.

SHAME ON YOU FOR GETTING ME EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!

Bah. I find good deals all the time. Of course, I sift through thousands of crap listings to find them.

The secret for me is looking frequently and regularly, and keeping a bit of ready cash in hand. It's amazing what you can do with just a couple hundred bucks if you're Johnny-On-The-Spot with it.

You is a bastage.

Yup, a "Forkgin Bastige" wit a big set of "boils". Who does he think he is........ Johnny Dangerously ?:D

When I check-out, I want all my stuff put out to the curb, along-side of me. That way, we can all go to the mega-trash dump in the sky together.

Who knows......... I might be making knives again some day just beyond the moon.

Sometimes I get unexpected deals... Like the time I ordered three 6"x48" 220 grit belts from this place and when I got the order, there was actually a dozen belts in the package because the clerk at the counter forgot to check the quantity. I walked out and later realized that I had gotten a dozen belts for the price of three. And the time when I went to pick up this hand held attachment for my Foredom tool that was actually priced as being $80, the clerk rang it in wrong and I ended up getting an $80 piece for less than $8. I was thinking of going back to the store and telling them...but my conscience just wouldn't let me.:D Oh well, their loss for hiring dumb people I guess. The people that worked there were lousy at customer service, very unhelpful, overpriced, and mechanically disabled. The manager of the store just walked around with this big "I'm an idiot" grin on his face like he was lost in his own store or something. They went out of business....go figure. Too bad, I liked the deals I got there.

You are a sick and twisted person.

That should make you fit right in here. Good one.

Well, sometimes you make nice to the widders and they make nice to you too.

My uncle like to do woodworking and his wife made wooden toys. He was in the market for a "Shopsmith" and saw a classified ad for one. He went over and looked at it. The widow said make me an offer for the whole thing. He told her he only needed certain pieces. She said make me an offer on the whole thing. He thought a bit and told her, "what you have is worth $xx, I can only afford $yy." She said fine, how soon can you have the garage cleared out? He said but the price I gave you was only for the ShopSmith. She said, "and I'm selling you everything in the garage for that price or none of it at all. How soon can you clear out my garage!"

He called his son in law and said, you've got 45 minutes to be here with a trailer!

What you may not realize, at least in my case, is that those "great deals" come from hard work. Over the years I have made many contacts, learned about some good places to look, and acquired for me and for others those "great deals" on power hammers.

The deals didnt happen by chance or accidentally, but from many phone calls, online searches, contacts in various forms etc.

I have found some wonderfull hammers, for me and for others, but I wouldnt want to even venture a guess at how many hours ive spent looking for those "great deals".
