What a steal.

Wow, he must have $75 or $80 invested in that collection. But it was so carefully built - each piece lovingly selected by a discriminating collector for the unique qualities of its frostwood - that I can see why it is easily worth the $1000 he's asking.

I just made him an offer of $20.00!
I hope he doesn't take me up on it!
Three people have made offers, and he's declined them all. So if one of those three is you, it looks like you're off the hook. If I were the seller, I'd have your $20 and you'd have a pile of "metal" blades and dyed plywood. :D

Actually, it could be someone who liked the knives, thought they were good quality, etc. Or, similiarly, someone who fell for the "make a profit" line.

Yeah, they're garbage IMO, but showing a little empathy costs nothin'.

After all, how many times you run into someone who thinks your nuts paying more than a Jackson for a knife?

I continue to be amazed at these guys who jump on Ebay with one of those Home Shopping Network's $199 dollar specials for a thousand bucks (or more).... Like their the only guys in the country with a TV.

Watch out for that sword, oilman... I hear they break!

OK, I may have asked the seller a question to see if he knew what he was really selling and here's his reply:

YOU DO REALIZE THAT I NEVER ASKED FOR SOME STUPID F*CKER'S OPINION ON ANYTHING. SO QUIT WASTING MY TIME AND EAT A DICK.
K THANKS.

I'm still debating on his buy it now price. I'd hate to let these get by and I'd like to help this guy make some cash since his customer support is so good.:D And how'd he know I'm a STUPID F*CKER? (And I put the stars in, not him.)

I also pointed him to this thread so he can let you all know how stupid you are too. In case he wants to share the love ya know.

And how did he know what you like to eat?

(just kidding)

At first I was feeling a little bad for the guy. I mean, how many of us have loved ones that don't know anything about knives? Wouldn't many of our family and friends be just as naive as this eBay seller about knives?

But with a reply like that, I guess he has no more class than his taste in knives would suggest.

I took that as asking me if I would eat his. He musta just seen Brokeback Mountain with his life partner and thought Illinois was probably just as repressed as wherever they shot that. It isn't.

Same way I felt.

Oh and no offense to anyone from Ohio or Michigan but half way through the description I said to myself, "This guy is from Ohio or Michigan".

Well, you might have helped him out a little, as he now cut the buy it now price in half.:p :D

Now it is only priced at 500 times its value, and not 1000x.:jerkit:

After corresponding with the seller again I believe he's of the variety that honestly didn't know what he had. I made a joke that if he sold them individually he would have made 2 grand instead of just 1 and he wanted to seriously know how to do it. I let him know I was joking. I also invited him to BF if he really wants an education on knives.

His initial rude response was because apparently some of us have been email heckling him.:o Oops. He seemed nice enough after that initial hump though and I hope he comes here to learn what a good knife really is.

later,

oil

Don't insult him please...

He could try to stab you with his blades, and you know, when a blade breaks on your skin, it can come really pointy.

None taken. :D

You can find stuff like that al day long at the Gibraltar Trade Center: http://www.gibraltartrade.com/

Its an indoor flea market full of vendors trying to double their money on "As Seen On TV" / HSN stuff.
Car waxes that you can set on fire, airbrushed t-shirts, gold-on-a-roll vendors, NASCAR collectables, and the monthly Gun and Knife Show with plenty of SKS's, chinese knives, and Nazi Memorabilia. :jerkit:

Don't lose hope. there are a few of us in Michigan and Ohio that still like good knives. Some folks here even make 'em ;) (Busse, Swamp Rat, Bark River, Rapid River, Marbles, etc...)
