What a way to spend an afternoon.

The neighbours just invited us over for a BBQ on Saturday. Good thing is they have a nice little rifle range at the back of the house.

Throw some assorted animal parts on the barby, open a bottle of cold frothy stuff and shoot holes in bits of cardboard. What better way to spend an afternoon among friends?

The only way to improve it would be if there was a big damn nearby full of yabbies and big trout

So which part of this Oz rock are you in ???

Well, I've got a reasonably big dam and it might have yabbies in there but I don't eat the things so I've never looked. I do have small turtles in the smaller dam but I have no plans to eat those either.

I'm in the Southern Tablelands of NSW

We could always shoot a couple of bunnies, plenty of those around, and chuck 'em on the barby but that might be too much work! :)

Sounds like fun Gaj. What were you shooting with??

Not were, will be. :)

I've got a .222 with scope. I might take the shotty around too, they've got a thing for throwing clay targets into the air so we might blast a few of those too.

Hope you have a great time

Country Oz is the best

Your part is not so bad either, some nice country there although I must admit I'm a bit more keen on the north eastern corner of Vic. Around Mt. Bogong. I've spent a bit of time up there with the horses, riding across the Bogong high plains.

The high country is a fantastic region

Having a factory in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne means that I get the best of both worlds on the Peninsula

Great lifestyle, fantastic countryside and a 45 minute drive to work

Some folks like the cities but alas they are not for me

Cheers

Rob

Gaj, I thought they took your guns away in Oz. I knew that pistols were out a long time ago, but had the impression that the rest were lost too.

No, they're not entirely lost fortunately. They are difficult to get and you have to have an approved reason and there are restrictions on what you can have but gun ownership is alive and reasonably well. There are three main approved reasons for having a gun, apart from LEO. Target shooting at a gun club, hunting (you have to show you have permission from property owners to hunt) and control of vermin and feral animals if you're a property owner (this is the category I fall under).
