I invite the Op to visit this thread when he feels or If he feels it appropriate. Several participants did so in honor and in memory of those loved and lost.

As F.O. intimated, We here on the Hinderer Forum are possibly quite different that many Forums these days. We are a mix of Men and Women who came because we may have gotten a knife or wanted a knife, maybe we received a pen for Christmas and now wanted to know more about it or the Man that designed it or those who built it maybe just wanted to know where to get a refill - so we all came for slightly different reasons.
We stayed for less different reasons.
You see, you can only talk about detents and screws and bevels so many times before the subject matter is no longer fresh and entertaining.
We have this one guy (Dummy-Doo) always starting threads about stuff has nothing to do about knives but he won't leave so the distractions continue.
Maybe "We" are why each of us sticks around, can't speak for everybody but while I LOVE my Hinderer Knives - I do not find them that difficult or mysterious a machine that I need further tutelge in order to operate this strange and wonderful device.
I stay because I can't find the damn light switch and they keep this place dark!
I remember someone took a jab at me once and said, "You're just a volunteer Moderator...". hmmmmmmm
I sat and thought about that for a minute, even made that face you make when you are thinking about something, know that face?
Then I laughed, Nice compliment (wish I could have accepted it) but as most barb throwers go - he was gone.
Plus, I didn't volunteer (I have a lot of respect for those who volunteer for things)
I was asked.
Nice to be asked. I was glad to say "yes".
I suppose the guy was right, not paid (at least in money) satisfaction is a different story.
If I can help keep it a nice place for someone to come and share a story of loss with the expectation of a warm reception and no other expectation - then I'm glad to do it.
Do I put up with much in the way of shenanigans? Probably not, won't speak for the other guys. I know Rick and Rob, Mike and Pete. Good guys - Polite guys. Not guys most folks mess with (if they're smart) but act right and they are the kind of guys you want in your foxhole or your backyard barbeque.
Anyway, for the Op or anyone else who may have once loved a furry or feathered friend - check out our "non-knife" thread about those great creatures we have or have had in our lives.
