What about Knives and Flashlights?

I was in the neighborhood today, so I stopped into Cabela’s for a look around. It was grim. There were a lot of empty shelves: the selection of merino socks was pretty spotty. Not too much of interest in the way of knives either. Lots of bubble pack, not much under glass, and not one think that tempted me to buy, or even take a closer look, especially at those prices.

The gun counter was similarly dreary. A lot of polymer, not one metal gun, not one revolver.. then we stumbled across this end cap display. Car Survival Kit. A plastic box with a dinky folder and a dinky flashlight, available in a range of colors. Ten bucks! You can’t buy hardly anything anymore, except maybe a small Opinel or bottom end Mora. So II did exactly what a guy is supposed to do, picked one up. Just ten bucks!! Feeling expansive, I bought another for my lady friend.

Then I got home and ran across this thread. What did you expect me to do? My apologies.
