what about the OD-1

welcome phuphyter. i dont spend too much time here, but what I can tell you is that you wont find very many nicer people then the ones who frequent BF. And great purchase with the OD-1. Mine is phenomenal. Hope to see ya around.

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and knives in general, so I just wanted to introduce myself here since my first purchase was today, a Kershaw, specifically The OD-1. I also have a RAM on the way.

First of all, I can't compare it to other knives, but from what I can tell, this is a very smooooth opening knife. I love the feel of the flipper and how the blade just falls into place with a solid click. Just as someone previously said, you can use the flipper or you can even just give it a nice flick and viola... go find something to cut.

Like everyone else, I got mine at wal-mart, but it didnt come in a box. If anyone in southern california is looking for a wal-mart that stocks them, the one in Pomona does. Just ask for the Kershaw 1775X, as mine was labeled.

I can't put this thing down.

Congrats on the OD-1. I think you'll love the RAM as well.

Welcome to the forums and the addiction. ;)

Welcome to BF and the Kershaw sub-forum.

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I'll be around catching up on old posts.

Anyway back on topic, but has any one else experienced the pivot screw coming loose on their OD-1's at all? I've been repeatedly flipping it open using the flipper, not waving it open, and I noticed that the pivot screw gradually got looser and looser until the blade was a little bit wobbly even when fully locked into place. The blade was a little off-center too when closed. Tightening the screw fixed it up perfectly, but I was just concerned about the knife in the long run.

Is this normal after such a short amount of time with it? I must have opened the knife around 50 or so times before it became an issue, and it's not like I'm abusing it in any way.

Loctite perhaps?

I've opened and closed mine maybe a thousand times now and no looseness. BTW, the Wally's on Palmer Park and Powers in Colorado Springs has them.

out of kershaw, from what ive seen from them, i expect perfection, and a nice glass of Chardonnay...or not.

I picked up an OD-1 today. I'm impressed....hard to beat for the money.

So when do the ZDP/Ti OD-1s become available? :D

Titanium frame with a Carbon Fiber slab, and a combination blade with ZDP...

It would be like a gift from the knife god.

Well, I made the rounds of my three local Walmarts again to see whether the new Kershaw OD-1 had arrived. Nope.

Yes, I know about the Feb 23 date, but other (better run?) Walmarts have their new knives available, but not the ones near me. Frustrated is the word - my gosh, some new owners have flipped their new knives so much, they are ready to bring them in for a lube and oil change.

that last line of your post is hilarious, delrin fred! im gonna check my two local walmarts later today.
