Hello all. I'm looking for information on the toboggan and haven't been able to find much about it.

What are your thoughts? How does it compare to other fiddlebacks in the same size range? Looks like an interesting design.

Any thoughts and or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks.

I like my Toboggan for EDC. It's got about a 3" blade and 4" handle, and the handle is very comfortable. With an eighth A2, it's a real slicer. It's about the same size as the Hicking Buddy with the blade being slightly shorter and the handle a tad longer. It fits very well in Bud's Hiking Buddy ISP. Sorry for the recycled pics, I'm working this weekend. I can get you some comp pics on Tuesday if your interested.

Thanks gusbuster. I'd like to see some comparison pics when you get the chance.

Sure, what would you like to compare it to? I got a Hiking Buddy, F2, BC Jr? BTW I read somewhere that it's Andy's version of the Bark River Canadian. I like the sway back design, it feels very good when you grip it with your thumb on the spine.

Yes that's what has interested me about it. I have the ladyfinger which also has a swayback. Comparison with the bushcrafter Jr, and a ladyfinger if you've got them would be great. Thank you.

Also any pics comparing it to a bushboot, as I've got a couple of them as well. It seems the tip of the bushboot drops down much lower than it does on the toboggan. Am I right?

I don't have a Bushboot, but I got a Ladyfinger and BC Jr. I'll try to get those comp pics for you on Tuesday.

Tekton,

Thanks for posting this. I have 2 HBs, an F2 and a Bushraptor and was curious how the toboggan stacks up to these knives. Looking forward to the pics from gusbuster and others.

To me the blade on the toboggan seems much taller. Almost bc/bcjr esque

Four comparison photos:
1. BC Jr (1/8 SFT), Toboggan (5/32 tapered tang), and Bushraptor (1/8 tapered tang) lined up by front of handle.
2. Ditto lined up by index finger narrow part to show effective length of handle.
3. Same BC Jr and 5/31 Toboggan plus a 1/8 SFT Toboggan viewed from top. Palm swell on BC Jr. is .816 and palm swell on rattlesnake Toboggan is .826. These are the tow thickest handles I have, and that includes two Bear Paws and a 3/16 tapered Camp Nessmuk. They are also the two thickest palm swells among current and sold Fiddleback listings at Blade HQ, the only dealer who specifies handle width. Very helpful.
4. BC Jr., 5/32 Toboggan, and 1/8 Toboggan shown from tip toward front of handles.

Will try to have more pics and comment this coming week.

:thumbup:Nice comp pics Roemer1 and joarthur. I guess you don't need anymore from me. I just want to add that I highly recommend the Toboggan. The sway back, and handle make it very comfortable. It has the curved handle end like the Hiking Buddy and BC Jr, but the handle is not as tall as the BC Jr and seems more rounded. Perhaps this diminishes control during serious bushcraft chores, but for my EDC needs, it feels fine.

I've not put this theory to the test but I suspect the swayback may help compensate for handle depth in some tasks.

Gusbuster, more pictures is never a bad thing considering the sometimes not so subtle differences in custom blades. [emoji3][emoji106]
