Those scales are pretty sweet! What wood is that? I like all the stripes....reminds me of a tutti frutti candy cane.

If those BK2 'steels are for sale...I will take one of the red ones on the bottom right of the stump please.

ETA- what does the other side of the scales look like? book-ended?

Cool! Looks Great! Only suggestion, attatch the striker with an elastic loop so that it can be used to hold the flint in a sleeve-type holder like found on many leather sheaths...

Beautiful all!

Also liking the wood in the top picture on the 2! That is gorgeous!

99.9% of folks will attach their own tether/lanyard on their firesteel.

So...this is prob'ly a dumb question: I notice that both sides of your scales have shiny phillips heads...shouldn't one side be the nut? 2 different knives? Wood screws offset from each other? Nuts attached to the knife frame? Trade secret?

He uses a double sided nut-screw thing. One side has the threaded insert, the other side is the bolt....both have phillips heads. the screw together and meet in the middle. pretty nifty arrangement.

LOL sorry Tommy.....the bottom right of the ''display case'' then! :)
whatta kinda wood eees eet man! Freaking nice whatever it is.

Has anyone experienced any breakage on the wood scales under hard use?

I have beat the snot out of my 9 with Tommy's Xtreme scales. No problems. The scales fit flush on the steel, so they metal is supporting/bracing it. I think a person would be hard-pressed to break one. Some softer woods, like cedar, may dent or get gouges around the edges if ya baton on the handle/tang I guess.

I aint easy on my stuff....so if it survived my testing it should be good to go.
