What about your 'other' knives?

My Sebenzas are some of my best knives, but I rarely carry them, for fear of losing them. I went through an exclusive period where I sold or traded most of my folders to obtain more CRK's, but eventually got those folders back. I carry a Spyderco Manix or Benchmade 710 these days, and always a Vic blue alox farmer and Spyderco Bob T Slipit. My micarta Sebenzas are the best quality folders I own, but I just can't bear to carry to them all the time. I try to get some time in now and again.

I'm like most of you guys, I have more knives than I can possibly use. Under the bed are large plastic storage bins with all make and manner of cutlery. Sometimes I feel like a junkie as I wait on my next 'cutlery' fix. The only differences are; it's legal and does'nt leave tracks. I use ESEE, CRK's, Busse and next of kin, TOPS, Becker, and several others that surely escape me at the moment. Thing is, they're ALL favorites or I would'nt still have them.

Didn't think when I posted this I would get so many responses! Keep em coming! As for me, I decided what to do with some of my other knives I do not use very often....I sold some of them and got a....wait for it......wait for it.....a MNANDI! It should be here tomorrow. So now my CRK colleciton will consist of a small sebbie 21 and a African Blackwood Mnandi. I have a feeling it won't stop there. :) A cool side note...i was debating between the bloodwood and the blackwood...i checked the birthday cards on them and the blackwood is Sptember 3rd...my birthday! Figured it was fate so I went with it. Can't wait!

Good choice on the mnandi. I love my african blackwood sebenza.

I really dig RAT/ESEE knives. IMO, I think they are the most ergonomic, well-made bang for the buck out there right now, especially considering where I live and how I use fixed blades. I've got a RAT3, and looking to pick up an ESEE4.

My Seb will always be with me, but I can't see myself grinding a firesteel slot into the blade of a CRK. :)

Here's a group shot or two from this weekend:

I only own CRK's and a Spyderco Military. :)

That tells you what happened to the "other" knives. Though I really like the look of the two Persian folders Spyderco is supposed to be coming out with.

i would sell, but keep 1 that you really like the most to use as a beater.

I have a decent collection of high end knives (not as many as some of you maniacs;)), but at the moment i have an emerson cqc-7 that i picked up cheap. i use it to travel with or carry when i'm using my knife for some nasty (break the tip off type of) sh**!

Don't get me wrong it's a great knife, and $80 is still $80 more than the average person spends on a knife... but if it gets confiscated or lost, i'm not gonna lose sleep over it! I think everyone should have at least one of those.

As others have said I started out with Benchmade and Spyderco. I still have some of them, but I mainly give them away as gifts to friends. I also catch myself putting them into different bags and places for a "just in case I forget" my knife type of situation (IE into spare backpacks, small compartment in the car, etc.)

I really dig RAT/ESEE knives.

big +1

With regards to fixed blades, I'm big into Busse, ESEE & Fehrman.

With regards to folders, like the rest, I started out with Spyderco and Benchmade 15 years ago, but since just FINALLY taking the plunge on CRK folders, I sold all my other folders except a Delica 4 SE for when I travel and dont want to stress about losing a knife... Its also nice having that fully serrated blade for the occasions when I need one.

Its also nice to have a folder that I dont mind lending out to a friend - for the same reason why I have a few Moras as fixed blades. I made the mistake of lending out a really nice BRKT fixed blade and my friend snapped the tip  Lesson learned.

I think that other folders can still fill a niche...

A large Sebenza is the only knife I have if you don't count SAKs. Though I am planning to get an Emerson Commander, ZT550, or maybe a Paramilitary 2.

I would assume like most of you i followed the same path to obtaining a crk....I started out with some benchmades and spydercos....but then the time finally came when I got a small sebenza. I should also mention that I have a strider PT but carry the sebbie alot more often and keep the PT as a back up or just to change things up every now and again. So my dilemma...what did you guys do with all of your benchmades and spydercos? I have 6 just sitting in my drawer and am thinking about just selling them off because I never see myself going back to them. If i ever put my sebbie down I grab the PT...should I find these guys new homes and just have a sebbie/pt edc household???

I'm kinda in the same boat. I have a few Benchmades (6) that I really want to sell, but I'm basically a newbee and don't know how to go about it yet. They are all NIB and never carried. Started out liking them before i discovered some other premium blades (CRK's, Striders, ZT's) and now im just not that into the BM's. I don't have a Paypal account set up. What is the best way to sell on the Forum? Should I just post what I have and some asking prices? Plus I'd love to trade 'em all for one Hinderer but I know that 'ain't going to happen. Any advice would be appreciated.
