I know howesknifeshop.com accepts paypal and the nationalknives.com does, along with a certain auction site, but I'm looking for different brands or sometimes these 2 sites might carry the knife i want but it may be out of stock. My question is what retailers who pay bladeforums dues of course accept paypal now, My favorite knife store online, which doesn't pay bladeforums dues just quit using paypal so now I'm stuck with howes, and national and the big auction site, howes and national are good but, they are out of stock on a lot of items, and I don't trust the auction site as I've been scammed on there before, so i was just wondering where all you guys gets your knives that use paypal. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know i could just transfer the money to my bank account and order from where i like but my paypal account is kinda like my knife budget, I don't ever spend more than what I have in the account and It just makes me feel better using paypal rather than giving my card info to companies anyone know of anymore besides the 3 I just mentioned?? Also know of kniveshipfree.com but their prices are too high for items I can find cheaper somewhere else.

Accepting PayPal seems to be a trend. Anything that makes shopping and paying faster and more convenient increases sales no doubt. Looking through respected dealers that I've purchased from recently, I can recommend the following who accept PayPal:

Collectorknives.net
Deadwood Knives
Knifeworks

I'm sure there are many others.

Bob W the 3rd one in your list is used to be my go to knife shop but they quit accepting paypal thus i started this thread

I thought KnifeWorks still accepted PayPal, but you had to ask for it.

However, I just read their policy on it and it appears they don't accept it any more at all.

It might be worth giving them a call 888-275-9775

One I've used a lot is The Knife Connection. Not sure if they would have what you're looking for, but they provide great customer service. Only other one I can think of right now is Dull Knife Terminator, who I believe is a recent dealer member here. He has his own website, but also sells on the big auction site. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him on the auction site at all. He also has great customer service. If I think of any others I'll edit to add them in.

Why would you not simply use a debit/credit card like everyone else? That is a bit too much of a pain in the butt to require a 3rd party account to budget your finances for you.

My knife budget is what I get from selling other knives, It keeps the Mrs. happy so if I want another knife I sell one and just pay for it with the money out of paypal from my transactions, She's on my case about buying so many knives so if I see a new one I haft to have I just sell a few I don't use that much and then go buy what i want, so paypal is my knife budget basically. I do use my debit /credit cards sometimes If it's a must have knife but for the most part I try to stay within what I have in my paypal account. Make sense?

The reason I keep hearing about and reading about why many vendors are boycotting Paypal is because they have attempted (successfully) to prohibit and ultimately dictate what their service can be used for, even in states that have much less strict laws than California (paypal HQ).

This is the reason I took paypal off my store. If you link it to your store and you sell autos, it's more than likely that they will ban your account. Has happened to several people I know directly. The ban is permanent. Period. I personally used Stripe.com when I first opened my shop and they cancelled my account because I sell Zero Tolerance knives. Apparently their parent bank is Wells Fargo and Wells Fargo does not allow any sort of assisted knives to be sold through their merchant programs.

From a resellers point of view, it's just not worth the risk. With that said, if you send a person to person transaction, they don't ask what the item being sold is... YMMV.

I made a first knife purchase from a vendor mentioned in this thread that doesn't accept PayPal, and I used my regular credit card. The very next day there was a fraudulent charge from a retail store across the country from me which my credit card issuer correctly detected as fraudulent and blocked. Now I am waiting on replacement cards with a new CC number.

Now I don't know if that one vendor is how my CC info got into the wrong hands or not, but the timing sure is suspicious. I've had that same CC number for years so it's a real hassle going out and changing all of my auto-pay accounts (NetFlix, iTunes, etc). I normally use PayPal for smaller purchases that I don't plan on paying off over time since it pulls directly from my bank account. And especially for new vendors I've never dealt with, I'd rather use PayPal just to keep the number of people who have my CC number on file to a minimum.

So that's why someone might want to use PayPal.

I did call that vendor and tell them about the issue. The person I spoke to was pleasant and said she'd tell the owner about it. I never heard anything else from them about it. Other than that my dealings with them were very good. However, I won't buy from them again unless I want to send them a money order, which is their other payment option.

Honestly, that's probably a coincidence. The way it usually works is someone hacks a database, steals the info. Sells the info, then the people that buy that information run small test transactions to test the numbers. They then create cards and go on shopping sprees with those cards. The whole process usually takes weeks to months.

Unless this vendor deliberately engaged in fraud, it's a bit suspect to believe your card was hacked and used the next day.

FWIW, you should only purchase from companies that use PCI compliant gateways. We use authorize.net. We never see your card number, and it's never stored on our servers. Your information is completely safe from prying eyes at our end. We see your name, address, and the last 4 on the card. Nothing else.

I personally would not use the same card that is used to autopay bills on internet purchases. At some point, no matter how hard anyone tries, that number is going to be compromised.

Most banks have a setup that will allow you to transfer money to another account under your name for the specific purpose of internet purchases. Then when the card number is compromised, they just issue you a new number. It's usually free and worth the hassle.
