What am I loking for?

That 7 lb 28" GRS, how much would it set me back? Could I get it with really nice hill walnut handles, and fully engraved?
Could I also get one of those T-bone golf/kukhri bags, and maybe a caddie too? Now that I think of it a sherpa would do! :D

Things to add to my list.;)

Yeah, but can you get the GRS with a factory installed pink handle. Now that ought to be something. What kind of something - I don't want to know. Why Uncle Bill will probably throw in a Bladeforums Pink tutu to match. :)

...would look around Waco for a "Campus Coed Caddy Cutie" - as has been said "Women and Khuks - Who could ask for more?"

I can see it now....

"No really it IS for an emergancy situation officer."

"Well son, since it has a froo froo pink handle..."
 ;) :D

You could send Uncle Bill a really nice piece of Pink Ivory Wood so he could send it to Nepal. You might have to do it a couple or three times to get the wood through customs.;)
Now just think what a woodchuck could do with that.:D

Those "Deliverance" looking gentlemen are the ones suggesting you're a Rambo wannabee?

A little advice from a guy who wore black patent leather Tony Llama cowboy boots in his younger days. Wear a pair of N frame 41's or 44's with them the first couple weeks and nobody will say a word. Then or even years later.

Incidentally my Indiana Jones hat is still holding up to daily wear in the winter and fall seasons. Replaced the ribbon band with leather and a Peacock feather, complimented with a crossed khuk pin.

I think Florida is the breeding ground for the Deliverence type Hillbillies, and none of them are afraid to let you in on there opinions,of what you need when you go into the woods. It seems like I run into atleast one on every trip. Its worse around hunting season. I have nothing against hunters in general but these guys are a pain in the ass. I might even take the advice they dish out if they would promise to bathe or brush there nasty teeth once in a while.
Once again I find myself off subject again so I will shut up.

I find that for the purposes you state, a lightweight thin bladed khukuri in the 15-16" length is great. I would not go longer as then it can get cumbersome to pack.

See my Udhaipur picture and review at http://www.tx3.net/~howardw/Khukuris/Styles2.htm . I have also used this knife in camp and for clearing trails. It does not chop or split wood as well as a bigger khukuri, but it gets the job done. It cuts light brush and vines much better than a heavier blade does. Plus it is light and easy to pack.

This size of khukuri is also a good size to travel with. See "A traveling rig" near the bottom of the page at http://www.tx3.net/~howardw/Khukuris/Carry.htm .

Bill sometimes gets Chitalangis or Gelbu Specials in in this size range. Keep an eye out for one.

The brass chapes can be a problem if they poke through the material of a pack. For one of my "packing" khukuris I heated up the chape and removed it. On my Udhaipur I didn't want to remove it so I duct taped a piece of cardboard over it.

P.S. If you cultivate a crazed look in your eyes and messed up hair they don't make the "rambo" comment. ;) The other option is to keep the blade out of sight when not using it.

I think I am going to go with either a 16.5 inch WW2 or the BAS. All I need now is the cash. I allmost cant wait now. the more I talk to the people on this forum the worse I want my new khukuri.

Randy you most certainly will not be disapointed!!!!:)

Randy, I'd suggest you go with a chiruwa AK 15"-17". I've also heard great things about the BAS. Great knives!

As for the Rambo comments... Hey, just laugh it off. If they think it bothers you they'll keep it up. Besides, if you laugh at their comparison and maybe take the time to show them all the nuances of the blade, they just may start to think, "hey, neat!"

Rusty,

Right on!! When I am hiking in the mountains, people are usually nervously looking at my Casull, they don't notice my knife...:D

Randy,

I have your same dilemma. I want one for hiking (and to be truthful, playing around with), but I want it to be capable of real combat if the need ever arises. I am thinking of a WW2 or a Chiruwa, but can't decide. I'll probably end up getting both...

Yes sir Uncle Bill I did just make a decesion.
I think I just made the first of many such decisions. I went with the BAS but I think I will also be trying out some of the others in the near future. I just ordered it at around 12:30 and they say its allready in the mail. That has to be the best service I have ever received on line.

Randy

oh yeah, I received the A.K. that I traded for. It arived in todays mail. This is an amazing knife I can think of no other place where you can get a hand crafted knife this well made for such a great price. THANK YOU.... you should start putting warning labels on these things they are addictive and dangerous to your bank account.:D
