I keep seeing a bunch of little kits/packs of ESEE knives and various gear like flint etc in nice little nylon zipper cases.

Are these kits members are making up themselves or are they beig sold some where?

I'm looking at picking up an ESEE 4, so not sure if there is a kit to go with that knife.

If you mean the small packs mounted on sheaths there are some available on the ESEE site. They hold an altoid tin which is usually used for survival items.Like this one on my HEST.

Small survival kit, medical kit, something to hold your cookies. whatever you wish.

they're generally referred to as PSK's or ATSK's - personal (or pocket) survival kit or altoid tin survival kit.
you can find them on the internet from a variety of companies, or you can make your own.
do a search of the ESEE forum for PSK and there are a couple of threads dedicated to folks showing off what they got.
pouches can be as simple as a cell phone case. Maxpedition barnacle and anemone pouches - or other pouches in similar size are good starts, too.

and yes - even ESEE sells a couple versions of survival kit on their website, like this one:

Ahh ok I thought it might have been sold as a knife kit combo with the mini pack.

Didn't know you had to build them yourself. (other than buying the contents from ESEE and adding your knife and aftermarket pouch)

Staglefty I know you posted this kit awhile ago and I have been searching for it, but could you show the contents of this kit again I am thinking of making a similar one since it seems to work so well. thanks

This is the orriginal Rat pack kit (minus the S&W 317, SAK, and GPS) ESEE was selling last year. There is a new version that will be available soon.

I hope they are available soon (right before or after holidays would be nice too), and I hope they have a version that will come with a knife straight from them.

lol this subforum and the Wilderness & Survival Section are almost joined at the hip. Both are a little kit-happy. I've got a bunch myself. I've been known to put together fire kits just because I'm bored.

All these are custom assembled by me. (click to view full size)

TexasTonyDobbs, being one of the new guys to ESEE knives, and adding to the mix my first forum experience, I have a question & will except all banter & remarks related to it. I am "assuming" the black pouch shown above is what everyone is referring to as the Rat Pack? If so, where can these be picked up, any idea the cost, etc. etc. ? I am slowly but surely educating myself on the ways of the forum world, so please be patient. Thanks for the help.

the rat pack pouch is undergoing a redisign and will be back out soon with some changes, you can keep an eye on eseeknives.com and here for updates.

Wow, great products & quick responses. Thanks for letting me know Cricket. I am assuming once again they will be listed on ESEE's website with the other gear lists? Have already thought of about 4 places to use them, hope my 401 holds out. Thanks again.
