I have been making fixed blades lately, Ive been finishing them with mirror polish and a 2x72 blue scotch bright belt. Can someone shed some light on how to finish blades a different way. The only other one I know is to use a rock vibrating polisher and haven't done that yet. Thanks for reading

It depends on what type of finish you're looking for. Are you specifically asking about mirror polish? If that is the case I hand sand to 2000 grit and then use a buffer. If you are talking about other types of finishes... try antiquing, blueing, patinas (such as mustard), or you can just do a 400 grit finish. Not quite sure I understood what you were looking for.

Yea about other finishes like smooth gray finish or just other ways I can finish a knife. I guess just give me some names and I'll look them up!

Hand rubbed is a popular finish, sand with the length of the blade, usually to 600+ and step back a grit and get straight sanding lines the length of the blade. a search should turn up some examples and methods.

Nick Wheeler has a WIP on how he does a hand finish. Look it up, you'll learn a lot
