And don't say just Knives/blades/forging and so on unless it is truly your ownly passion.

For me cooking/baking is my biggest one, but my obsession with all things knives and knife related is starting to creep up.

Just curious what everyone's other obsessions are other than the obvious (we all are knife nuts here i think)

In fact this weekend i have to make a cake for my fathers 60th birthday, a three tiered behemoth with some Sicilian flare.

i may post a pic when finished, just for fun.

Food!

Amateur, self proclaimed "chef",foodaholic/foodie and 20+ year veteran of the food industry. If you really want to see a spectacle, then you have to attend the

Summer Fancy Food Show in NYC. Amazing!

I also collect timepieces and the occasional pen.

ahhh a fellow Foodie lol, i'm in the culinary industry as well as culinary school. i would love to go to NYC for that but work and time-off gets me every-time sadly.

Metal detecting, motorcycles, fishing, knives and axes dovetail with some interests. I am really serious with the metal detecting though.

Then try and hit the winter FFS in San Francisco. Not nearly as big, but still loads of fun for any foodie.

My motorcycles.

You know how they say that guys think about sex X times a day. That's how often I think about my motorcycles ;).

My other passion is making things. My favorite general materials are metal and leather. And when I make things for my motorcycles I get the added pleasure of combining my two passions.

Baseball and surfing are probably the only hobbies/interests i have that blow knives and bushcraft out of the water for me.

all my interests and hobbies tend to revolve around the outdoors, however.

I envy you guys and your passions. I'm being serious. I've got friends who are passionate about woodworking, different sports, cars, etc. and I'm just not that into anything. It leaves me feeling unsatisfied a lot of the time.

Well I live across the street from a shooting range and now knives! Luv the 2A freedom in Florida! God Bless the USA!

I have a few "passions". And my son is somewhat like I was at his age (13). As a youngster, I seemed to have a fixation on machined and mechanical things, old tools, anything made with odd or unusual materials, etc. With ADD & OCD, I would be drawn to "order and precision", according to my doctors. I collected a lot of unusual & oddly made items, especially machined parts. I love taking things apart and re-assembling them - my favorite project was partially restoring an old parking meter when I was twelve.

I guess today some of what I'm interested in is called "SteamPunk", although that's more of a Victorian-era mechanical antiques focus. I still have quite a few of my old oddities collection; I should dig up the pictures & post them. Guns, knives, and tools are my main passions now.

Alpine skiing and golf. :) Fishing and hunting. Rock climbing. Auto racing. Women and booze, but not so much with the booze anymore. I guess I should squeeze God and family and friends in there too. :D

Insects, specifically wasps. I started collecting last year but I used most of it for a class so here's what I have now. The left column are paper wasps. The middle column are bees a honey bee and a sweat bee. The right are wasps that I haven't really looked at yet. Well, I looked at the top right, but it was like 5:00 am and I'd been up for a week and I passed out on my microscope.

I also have a couple of species of stink bug and a beetle. :p

I've also been working in the lab at school to sort and mount samples. This is one such sample, that's just a big old pile o' flies.

Out of that, I got this. Nine Hymenoptera, five of which were ants. :p

I'm pretty sure this thing is in the same family as tarantula hawks, yes that is it's stinger coming out of the back. I have to find the close up I took of the stinger, it's about as long as my pinky fingernail.

I keep reptiles and work on animal and land conservation issues whenever possible. Trying to keep lands undeveloped so that it can be hunted in a conservation friendly manner and to protect the eco system that is on that land.

La Selva Biological Research Station - we normally stay at pimped out spots when we travel but this place was a research science station with a huge amount of bio diversity. We were on a photo toured and stayed in a cinder block dormitory for three days so that we could run around the forest jungle in the middle of the night.

Was lucky enough to see some out of ordinary things like this giant 8 inch X 4.5 inch roach thing sitting on a giant tree trunk

Recorded music from the pre-stereo era.

My dad's best friend was a 78 RPM record collector. He had a big Victorian house with a basement full of records, and a subscription-only record club that sold LP transfers of his collection. He used to go down in the basement and play Wagner so loud the building shook and coal dust flew everywhere. That was how I formed my taste in music, and I keep my main music system in the basement today.

My mom told me "you can't live in the past," and she made sure I learned the 20th century classics.

I would say my main interest is mechanical things, which has led me to hobbies such as knives and building RC cars. I do really like building RC cars (technically I've never bulit on, but I can fix one and take apart and reasemble one so I think I'm set haha) but I have one big problem with them as a hobby; they're really expensive to build and maintain, and I can't really justify spending the money on something I might only get to play with once or twice a month. Still a very fun hobby though!

Other than that I really enjoy cooking. :)

It's funny, there seems to be a split between art/food and people who like mechanical things. I love all forms of motorsports, and the outdoors. But I'm also into metal detecting, rock hounding, and ghost town exploring.
